Here’s one of our latest purchases; the much sought after, awesome 1986 AOR self-titled album from NIGHTWORK, reissued for the first time on CD few weeks ago as part of the “Lost U.S. Jewels” series. Fully remastered from the original tapes and including 5 previously unreleased tracks, this is a mus have for fans of classic era Survivor, ’86 Journey, early Bon Jovi… and Kobra Kai fans!
NIGHTWORK was founded in 1984 in San Antonio, Texas, by ex-members of Pomp AOR band Winterkat, and they played first-class AOR / Melodic Rock supporting then bands like Kansas, Cheap Trick, UFO and Night Ranger amongst others.
The original LP is now a prized collector’s item amongst ‘80s AOR / Melodic Rock aficionados. This remastered reissue is a Limited Edition of 500 copies, and it will be sold out soon.

Back in the early Eighties, the Lone Star state of Texas, in particular San Antonio, was widely regarded as the Metal capital of the world – or at least, America. Local acts such as S.A. Slayer, Juggernaut and Pantera were all leather limbed incumbents carving out a slice of the action.
Another notable act was Winterkat, a Pomp AOR anomaly amongst all the heavy metal thunder. When three of its members, Ric Swanson, Chris Watkins and Tim Saunders, jumped ship, they formed the formidable AOR outfit, NightWork, alongside Jeff Doyle and Jamie Vallejo.

Their debut LP was recorded and released in ’86 on their own label, Nightsongs. Their sound is prime-time, mid-Eighties AOR and comes across like Survivor, 1986 Journey, early Bon Jovi, Sugarcreek, Bystander, etc.
The keyboard dominated “Steal Away” is almost AOR perfection, whilst the surging “Stealing Your Heart” has a slight whiff of Franke & The Knockouts about it. If you want radio-ready excellence then look no further than “Hit On The Radio” or “Like I Do”.
In 1986 this album, and NightWork, should have lit up the sky like the fourth of July.

A collector’s piece for decades, finally we have this great ’80s US American AOR album reissued, and including unreleased material.
