STÖRMBREAKER – Strike the Match (2021)
Minneapolis based hard rockers STÖRMBREAKER consisting of frontman Christopher Sele, guitarists Logan Stahlecker and Billy Schlump, bassist Jeremy Brown and drummer Logan Loebrick are releasing their debut full-length album ”Strike The Match” and after first listen we are happy to say; classic Hard Rock with razor ’80s guitars, booming drums and over the top vocals is still alive in America.
This young 5-piece is set out to conquer the world – or at least Eighties metalheads hearts – with their commercial hard rock sound derived from influences spanning the best of the ’80s Sunset Strip scene (Dokken, Y&T) through today’s representatives of the genre like Jettblack, Wildstreet, BlackRain, etc.
This approach to cultivating their signature sound manifests in each song as a powerful, intoxicating, and deeply satisfying blend of raw aggression combined with emotive, melodic hooks. Störmbreaker’s intentional pursuit of their modernized, arena-metal sound has been validated as a worthwhile endeavor time and again by fans and industry players, including agents in Hollywood who heard one of Störmbreaker’s first singles, “Last to Know” and offered the band a double-header weekend gig at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go, providing support for Sunset Strip legends Faster Pussycat and Steven Adler’s Guns ‘n Roses.
Störmbreaker is breathing new life into the dual-lead, 80s era hard rock sound, blending it with a smart, modern metal undertone, and using it to win over new listeners while establishing a quickly growing, national fanbase.
In addition to their debut album release, Störmbreaker’s schedule includes performances at major music festivals (Rockfest), tour dates with national acts (including Hinder, FireHouse, Saliva), and capped by another trip out to Hollywood to rock The Whisky A Go Go directly supporting Dokken featuring George Lynch/Lynch Mob.
Word on the street is this young rocking quintet loaded up a mighty flux capacitor and blew into modern day Minneapolis, Minnesota straight outta the mid-’80s. Yeah, this might explain how five dudes this young are rocking such an old school sound.
Honestly, whether Störmbreaker are the product of a crazy sci-fi accident or the recipients of freak exposure to a loud musical force that ruled the land before their existence is far less important than the resulting sound.
Störmbreaker‘s ”Strike the Match” is a 12-song blast of Eighties styled rock that walks a fine melodic rock line between Tooth And Nail era Dokken, Def Leppard‘s Pyromania, and Y&T at their commercial peak, plus Jettblack’s modern, aggressive attack.
