Aussie classic hard rockers THE ANGELS released their album “Beyond Salvation” in 1990 in Australia in early June 1990 and reached No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. As happened with some of the band’s previous LP’s, in America the release featured a different track list and the band name used was THE ANGELS from ANGEL CITY, as they were known in the US at the early ’80s (“Angel City” band).
Now they are reissuing “Beyond Salvation” in its ‘American Version’, which was made up of 4 brand new songs, “Dogs Are Talking”, “Rhythm Rude Girl”, “Let the Night Roll On” (the only 3 songs to also appear on the Australian edition), and “Junk City” (Australian single B-side to “Let the Night Roll On”), and re-recordings of 5 classic Angels songs, “City Out of Control” (Night Attack, 1981), “Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again” (The Angels, 1977), “I Ain’t the One” (Face to Face, 1978), “Who Rings The Bell” (The Angels’ Greatest, 1980), and “Can’t Shake It” (No Exit, 1979).

In spite of popular opinion, The Angels were not that similar to AC/DC; yet with ”Beyond Salvation” the comparisons made more sense. This is largely hard-driving rock album through and through with gang choruses and big guitar riffs.
All are energetic, rocking songs inviting you to move, tap, dance or go surfing! Many of these songs were used for a movie soundtrack about surf.

In fact, this American edition of “Beyond Salvation” almost works as a greatest hits album as half the tracks are new versions of their most celebrated songs from the Seventies / Eighties.
If you like your rock straight, no chaser, you’ll enjoy “Beyond Salvation” from start to finish.

Cool! Great White must have been fans. They covered “Can’t Shake It” on Hooked in 1991.
