JOE BOUCHARD (Blue Oyster Cult) – American Rocker (2022)
Former Blue Öyster Cult bassist JOE BOUCHARD will a release a new solo album entitled “American Rocker“, a 11-track collection of brand new songs that will be released on June 3. As Joe explains, “American Rocker is a musical journey of my life as a rock star,” adding, “I feel lucky to live a life of music, and to be fulfilling my wildest dreams.”
That spirit is pretty well on spot on the melodic classic rocker ‘In the Golden Age’ that finds him reflecting on the band’s 1970s heyday, about the early shows of Blue Öyster Cult when they began playing big shows on the West Coast of the U.S.
There’s many other fun and nostalgic stories of what used to be into a rock n’ roll band, something missing nowadays and something that in one way or another led to write good, authentic rock songs.
Joe Bouchard is one of the founding members of Blue Öyster Cult and with them sold millions of albums for Columbia Records with such classic songs as “Don’t Fear the Reaper” and the #1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart “Burning For You.”
The band toured all over the world with shows in the US, Canada, Europe, the UK and Japan, and has earned Joe nine Gold and two Platinum albums.
As a songwriter, he wrote many BÖC songs including the very popular “Astronomy” which was covered by Metallica on their 1998’s release Garage Inc and the live staple “Hot Rails to Hell”, which was the second BÖC single released by Columbia Records.
Today, when not writing and recording in his home studio, he performs with several bands. His latest group, Blue Coupe, is a superstar combo which features his brother Albert Bouchard, also a founding member of BÖC, and Dennis Dunaway, a founder of the Alice Cooper Group and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The new album ‘American Rocker’ marks the return of Mickey Curry (Bryan Adams, Hall and Oates, Alice Cooper) on drums, and sees Joe taking a look back at the heyday of the 70’s with BÖC on tracks like “In the Golden Age”, “Off Season Hotel”, “Rocket To Fame” and more.
It’s only rock n’ roll, but I like it… all fun stuff wrapped by a classic rock, melodious production.
