Specialized reissue label Eonian Records is releasing a fresh remastered version of “Out Of My Hands“, the 1994’s third album from American melodic hard rockers MISERY, right in time for its 30th anniversary, including a previously unreleased track.
At the time MISERY played shows with major acts such as Lillian Axe, Dirty Blonde, Kix, etc, while the band’s management made numerous contacts within the industry and was offered a deal with Texas label Flashpoint Records. Ultimately, they turned it down, but label owner and A&R man James Lopez did encourage the band to head in a harder & heavier direction.
As a result, their third recording by the name of “Out Of My Hands,” has a much more edgy sound in the vein of Dokken, Lynch Mob, Lillian Axe. As a proof of their heavier delivering in this album, they included a cover of Black Sabbath’s first album song ‘Fairies Wear Boots’.

There’s sharp riffs, roaring vocals full of energy by singer / guitarist Greg Gilley (who also play bass on the record) and a punchy rhythm section – those are only some of the arguments in favor of this output of the American band.
The catchy “War/Hate/Love” could have been a hit some years earlier, while “Souls On Fire” and “Destiny” are strong hard rocking songs with a down to earth powerful and authentic sound full of groove.

The band not only continued their local success in their home state Texas playing shows from Dallas to San Antonio as well as their home base of Houston and Pasadena but alas, the times were changing in the mid-90s.
MISERY was finding it hard to keep things going. They recorded a new album but the industry was looking for grungy rock. Ultimately, it wasn’t meant to be for MISERY. In 1996, their story came to an end.

The band was remained separated for over two decades until they were approached in the summer of 2021 by the owner and booker from a club they frequently played to perform an After Dark Club reunion show.
“Out Of My Hands” is a well produced rocking album with lots of heavy hard rock riffs and groove, strong lead vocals and gang choruses, now remastered by Misery’s drummer Kevin Coffey.
