TOQUE - Meanwhile Back in Winnipeg (2024) - full

TOQUE (pronounced ‘Took’) is a renowned Canadian hard rock band known for their ’80s songs cover shows. Enlisted in the ranks of Toque are Todd Kerns & Brent Fitz – both of whom play in Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators – along with Cory Churko (Shania Twain) and Shane Gaalaas (Michael Schenker, Yngwie).
We already featured the two cover albums from this all-Canadian combo, and today they are releasing “Meanwhile Back in Winnipeg“, live takes not only of covers but also TOQUE’s original, self-penned songs.
Additionally, the band has been releasing standalone singles, and you need to listen to these guys, they are pretty awesome. Not only the cover version they did in the past (Rush, Streetheart, Bryan Adams) are awesome, their originals are killers too.
Btw, the live recordings quality is top notch, crisp, and the guys playing is terrific. Regarding the new own, studio songs, the infectious melodies and catchy choruses are the order of the day.

The guys play live their self-penned catchy track ‘You Can’t Stop It (Live)’, a studio single released two years ago which was a sensation in Canadian rock radio.
Toque also pay tribute to one of their favorite Canadian bands, Streetheart and their late singer Kenny Shields, performing covers of ‘What Kind of Love Is This’ (1982) and ‘Action’ (1978), both old songs but updated by Toque with modern melodic rock arrangements.

There’s also other new songs such as ‘Forever in a Day’, ‘Something for the Pain’, ‘Up to You’, ‘Can’t Stop It (studio version)’ all very strong and a proof Toque are ready to release and album with all-original material.
Very good rock n’ roll from Canada.

Psst: In your brackets (Rush, Steelheart, Bryan Adams) it should be Streetheart (you list them correctly later).

Prounciation is off. It would be like “two-k” or “touk”. In any case, the album title is a play on Streetheart’s 1978 album, Meanwhile Back in Paris, whic is the first lines of Action…you also might want to change it from Steelheart to Streetheart in your (…) line.
