HOLLDRIO – Harder (2024) *HQ Exclusive*
Looking at the cover art of “Harder“, the new album of HOLLDRIO you may think – ”these are all really good looking guys & gals, top models, are they musicians too? Nope. Just because the guys & gals in the photo doesn’t exist. HOLLDRIO as ‘a band’ doesn’t exists.
Yeap, HOLLDRIO is an AI / Artificial Intelligence generated thing. And we say ‘thing’ and not ‘monster’ because “Harder” sounds darn good.
Unfortunately, music with AI is a trend that started some time ago – not only in Rock music – A.I. performing drums, guitars, even morphing vocals – with only a few samples from a human vocalist you can create a full song.
Well, the results with HOLLDRIO’s “Harder”, as said, are very good. Credits go to some ‘Michel Studio’ using Udio, a generative artificial intelligence software / model that produces music based on simple text prompts. It can generate vocals and instrumentation. There’s free version available…
Well, HOLLDRIO does not exists, but ‘Michel Studio’ does. And he was able to create some awesome ’80s sounding melodic hard rock / glam metal / melodic metal songs here. And with different voices > male & female. Music akin Alice Cooper circa ‘Trash’, Cinderella 1988, Britny Fox, Lee Aaron…
A robot never will replace human talent. Never.
But rock n’ roll and overall contemporary music are facing a new challenge: AI
We are featuring HOLLDRIO’s “Harder” for you just to taste what tech is capable to do at this moment. And it’s pretty surprising.

“Slop”, as the kids say.
I don’t understand the positive review. While the vocals are okay, the songwriting (lyrics) makes me cringe, songs in general are forgettable at best, the artificial drum sound is horrible, and the guitars are just forgettable. Definitely not an album I would be willing to actually buy.
If you read carefully, it isn’t a positive review. We just highlight how much AI has evolved so far, but we prefer real musicians forever.
Yeah, I did see the preference for real musicians (and I definitely agree with you on that), but personally I do consider conclusions like ““Harder” sounds darn good” and comparisons such as “Music akin Alice Cooper circa ‘Trash’, Cinderella 1988, Britny Fox, Lee Aaron” as very positive.
On the other hand, I agree that AI is evolving, and I wouldn’t be surprised if, a couple of years from now, they actually have an AI system smart enough to create songs that are not as easily distinguishable from actual artists anymore…
I had a good laugh!
Music played by humans still has a bright future ahead of it.
