During his six-decade career, multi-Grammy-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Carlos SANTANA has captivated fans worldwide with his unique fusion of rock, blues, jazz, and Latin music.
His new album, ”Sentient”, showcases 11 mesmerizing tracks, including three previously unreleased songs, and features collaborations with legends like Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, Smokey Robinson, and more.
The unreleased tracks include an alternate take of Smokey Robinson’s ‘Please Don’t Take Your Love’, featuring Santana’s searing guitar work, and ‘Coherence’, a dynamic duet with Cindy Blackman Santana that highlights their unparalleled synergy.
Another standout is a live instrumental version of Michael Jackson’s ‘Stranger in Moscow’, where Santana’s guitar channels the King of Pop with soulful precision. Also included is Santana recording with Michael Jackson in the song ‘Whatever Happens’. The previously released tracks have been remastered / remixed and sequenced in a way that allows a new and dramatic story to emerge.

Carlos Santana is a great collaborator, blending his singular guitar style and expansive musical vision with a stunning variety of artists to create something new, unique, and universal.
Santana’s vision for ”Sentient” was to revisit some of his collaborations through a new lens, weaving them together into a sonic pilgrimage that passes through blues, soul, rock, and Latin rhythms. He not only curated the songs to suit his vision, but revisited many of them, enhancing aspects of the tracks to create a cohesive listening experience.

The songs on ”Sentient” range from recent hits and superstar collaborations to rare, unreleased, and overlooked tracks that Carlos wanted to re-introduce in a new context
The album also revisits key moments in Santana’s career, like the Latin-infused ballad ‘Whatever Happens’ with Michael Jackson and collaborations with Miles Davis & Paolo Rustichelli. Additionally, remastered gems such as ‘Let the Guitar Play’ (a re-imagining of ‘Song For Cindy’) with Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels, and the Grammy-winning ‘Blues For Salvador’ further enrich this release.

For Santana, ”Sentient” is a deeply personal journey through his storied career. “I can listen to this album and go, Did this really happen?” he reflects. Santana continues to innovate and inspire, proving his timeless relevance in music.
