SHABBY TRICK – R’n’R Riser (2013) *HQ*
As requested, here’s “R’n’R Riser“, the final album from Italian hard rockers SHABBY TRICK. Hailing from Florence, SHABBY TRICK formed in 1984 and debuted into the studio in 1987 with the homonymous demo, followed shortly after by the second demo tape ‘Heart Killer’, a professional work that qualified them as one of the most credible and convincing examples of Italian street-metal / hard rock, also thanks to an image of notable impact.
The official debut LP was made, after interesting offers from foreign labels, with the patronage of Cult ‘n’ Roses, a newly formed Italian company, competent and competitive, that allowed the release of 1989’s “Badass”, now a cult classic album. After some significant international gigs and slots in important European live festivals the band split up, only to reform in 2000 with a new rhythm section, and a new album.
In 2010 SHABBY TRICK released this, their third and final album “R’n’R Raiser”. This is the 2013 version, reissued by their new label Jolly Roger Records alongside “Badass” in a remastered version and with the addition of 5 bonus tracks.
What surprises about SHABBY TRICK is how good these guys are writing & performing, and particularly on “R’n’R Raiser” the excellent production – this is timeless rock n’ roll, kinda ’80s AC/DC and Krokus meets Dirty Rhythm. With songs titled ‘Sleazy Lover’, ‘Boogie Bluesie Lucy’, ‘Cradle of Rock’, ‘Heavy N’ Lethal’, ‘Rock n’ Roll Raiser’ you can expect guitar driven, groovy heavy rock with lots of feeling.
Seriously, it’s a shame SHABBY TRICK aren’t more well known – the group is currently froze – as they are a fantastic rocking band.
