As part of the Universal Music Japan reissue campaign of long time out of print albums from their catalog titled ‘HR/HM 1000‘, that meaning Hard Rock / Heavy Metal at the price of 1000 Yen, here’s as requested Canadians GLASS TIGER third album, 1991’s ”Simple Mission”.
It’s funny to see ”Simple Mission”, being a rock&pop album, being reissued as part of a Hard Rock / Heavy Metal series. But happens that GLASS TIGER has a lot of fans from the most commercial side of melodic hard rock, as this band mix a huge pop-rock sound with North American melodic arena rock styling – so ’80s.

In fact, ”Simple Mission” results more rock than pop – something expecting with Tom Werman (Dokken, Mötley Crüe, Stryper) producing, and Jim Vallance co-writing (producing one song as well). This album sounds “1990 American” – you know, that ‘polished sound’ with rackety electric guitar riffs.
And check out the personnel involved; Jeff Scott Soto, Mark Free, Tommy Funderburk on backing vocals, on drums Tony Thompson (The Power Station, Crown of Thorns) and John Keane (Richard Marx, Michael Thompson Band), Tim Pierce on some guitars, and more.
Late ’80s / early ’90s AOR and melodic rock fans need to hear GLASS TIGER’s ”Simple Mission” – a must in everyone’s collection for sure…
