HERE

After the new album by SHAYNE MALONE featured here, some of you asked for his debut “One“. This is just another wonderful 10-track Melodic Rock CD with that classic 80s imprint all over.

As we already heard on Malone’s new album, his last year debut “One” showcase the love for ’80s anthem Melodic Hard Rock bands by this New Zealand musician.
Varied influences are spreaded out all over the properly titled “One”, from mid-Eighties BON JOVI in ‘Where Your Gun Is Pointed’ or BLUE TEARS on ‘In This Life’ (a highlight), to WINGER through ‘Enemy of Man’.

There’s a brilliant melodic hard rocker in ‘Edge of a Broken Heart’, another highlight on this ’80s flavored record, while the solid ballad ‘Touch My Soul’ adds a touch of WHITE LION at their prime.
I hear some ALIAS on midtempo ‘Seven Lies’, DION BAYMAN through ‘Silence in My Mind’, and the rocking side of ARTI TISI in ‘Roll of the Dice’.

There’s a little modern experimentation in ‘Gone’ which doesn’t suit with the rest of material on offer, but Malone is back on track with the punchy melodic hard rocker ‘Take the Lead’, a racing track plenty of biting guitars and anthemic vocals.

RICHIE KOTZEN - I'm Coming Out (2011)tracks

While Malone has improved production a lot on the new album, this debut “One” sounds darn good, well recorded, arranged & mixed.
At the end, what you need is good songs, and “One” delivers some memorable little pearls of uncompromising ’80s Melodic Rock from a talented artist who make the music he loves.
