Quatro, Scott & Powell (QSP) is a supergroup founded in the very heart of glam rock, bringing together the combined forces of three legends of rock ‘n’ roll with Suzi Quatro on vocals / bass guitar, Andy Scott of The Sweet on vocals / guitar, and Don Powell from Slade on drums.
Warner Music Group have acquired the rights for the first ever release of the QSP album in Europe on CD and 2LP. The album will be available as a”Deluxe Edition“, featuring additional tracks which were not included on the original release, which was released only in Australia and Asia.

QSP is named after the three members: Quatro on bass and vocals, Andy Scott of Sweet on raucous guitars, and Don Powell of Slade providing stomping drums. These 3 musicians are living part of rock n’ roll history, with their music having influenced countless bands from the last forty years.
All have similar backgrounds and come from the same ballpark where they learned their craft: ‘on the road’. And in the studio, of course, with more than 50 albums recorded as a whole.

“In the beginning it was fun returning to our roots by recording a few covers,” said Suzi Quatro. “But eventually we started to write original songs which gave the album substance. We have created something we are all very proud of.”
This classic rock, and as noted, a mix of covers and originals.

There’s a cool old time boogie-woogie in opener ‘Slow Down’, followed by the more laid back and melodic ‘Long Way From Home’, a Scott / Quatro original.
The first of a number of covers comes in the form of ‘Tobacco Road’ that vintage rocker by The Nashville Teens that has been covered by countless artists (including David Lee Roth). It’s done in a very classic rock form, with a nice bounce.

There’s a Meatloaf / Steinman feel on ‘If Only’ (penned by Quatro), and a nice chugging rock take on The Everly Brothers original ‘The Price of Love’.
The one song were they could have pushed it – the Dr John song popularised by Humble Pie, ‘I Walk on Guilded Splinters’, sung by Scott, never really catches light like it should.

The ballad ‘Pain’ is another original, featured here in a full band and an ‘orchestral’ version, and both are among the highlights on the CD. Particularly on the string arranged version, Quatro vocals shine with a little Ann Wilson / Heart approach.

QSP - Quatro, Scott & Powell (Deluxe Edition) (2017) disc

This Deluxe / European edition includes two extra tracks, one being a cover of the classic ‘Fever’, a showcase for Quatro’s bass guitar playing, and the rocking ‘Tossin’ and Turnin’ done in a classic The Sweet feel.

“Quatro, Scott & Powell” is a cool classic rock album, recorded with an organic production, one that fans of The Sweet, Slade, Quatro and timeless vintage rock will enjoy.
