As requested, here’s the out of print remastered Japanese edition of MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP awesome self-titled debut LP, as part of the ‘Forever Young Series Remastered’ including 8 bonus tracks, now out of print.
After turbulent flights of emotional fancy during his mercurial tenure with Brit rockers UFO, the German guitar legend launched the Michael Schenker Group in the late Seventies, with this self-titled album released in 1980.

The first Michael Schenker Group line-up had all the big names you could ask for: session supremo drummer Simon Phillips, legendary bassist Mo Foster, and Rainbow / Deep Purple keyboardist Don Airey. The album was produced by ex Deep Purple and at the time Rainbow’s Roger Glover, although it could have been very different.
“My manager Peter Mensch offered Mutt Lange for my first album but I refused,” says Michael Schenker. “He produced all of Mensch’s bands and I didn’t want to be the same.”

Fortuitously for all concerned, a demo by unknown singer Gary Barden happened to be playing just as Michael walked past the Head of A&R’s office at Chrysalis Records. The chemistry between guitarist and the swiftly hired singer was instantaneous enough to ensure that work on the album was able to be resumed.
The result was MSG classic songs such as ‘Armed And Ready’, ‘Victim Of Illusion’ or ‘Into The Arena’.

Those with ‘the knowledge’ will know what to expect. Rockers to die for like ‘Armed And Ready’ or ‘Feels Like A Good Thing’. Wow! And there’s the beautiful ‘Cry For The Nations’ – an emotive and heart-stopping track that is fantastic and assures you that classic hard rock certainly rocks.

Sweeping you along in its wake is the foot-tapping ‘Victim Of Illusion’, or how about honing in on the cheery ‘Bijou Pleasurette’ with it’s charming name and fabulous, melodic — almost classical — music.
The Michael Schenker Group’s talent knows no bounds and ‘Tales Of Mystery’ bowls you over with its folk-ish, melodic overtures. Lose yourself in ‘Lost Horizon’: even if you know it well, it’s full of surprises and tantalizing beats and an almost ‘desert sands’ style.

With this debut The Michael Schenker Group showcased to the world they were ‘Armed And Ready’ to take the world by storm and keep every fan’s pulse racing.
This remastered reissue features various bonuses, including non album songs and B-sides.
Kickin’, rocking classic stuff.
