”Doctor, Doctor; The Kulick Sessions” is made up of songs that influenced the career of MICHAEL SCHENKER, recorded & co-produced by Bob Kulick between 2004 / 2005 with the who’s who in Hard Rock as guest, originally planned by Schenker as a collection of covers featuring himself and a “revolving all-star cast of guest musicians”. Later the album was labeled and marketed as an MSG album, and re-released under different titles.
This diverse collection of cover tunes demonstrates the mad axeman’s signature licks and solos over a range of rock material. Schenker teams up with a bunch of different entities here, such as Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Jeff Scott Soto, Joe Lynn Turner, Paul Dianno (Iron Maiden), Tony Franklin ,etc, as he rips out heart-pounding, fist shaking, all new renditions of rock classics popularized by Elvis (“All Shook Up”), Black Sabbath (“War Pigs”), Rush (“Finding My Way”), Gary Moore (“Out in the Fields”) and more.
Among the highlights we find Schenker in top form providing some great leads on ‘All Shook Up’ with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals. For Schenker fans it is interesting to hear Jeff Scott Soto’s take on the Mogg/Schenker penned UFO classic ‘Doctor Doctor’.
‘Blood of the Sun’, which features Leslie West on vocals, rocks with a bluesy feel, and it’s good to hear Mark Slaughter back in business and overall the musicians are top notch.
