PRAYING MANTIS – To The Power Of Ten [Japan Edition reissue] (1995) *HQ*
A few days ago we featured the terrific PRAYING MANTIS album ‘Captured Alive In Tokyo City’ in its rare 2-CD limited edition. Well, almost the same line-up of founding members Chris & Tino Troy, ex- Iron Maiden Dennis Stratton on guitar, and with Bruce Bisland (Statetrooper) handling the drums, recorded this studio album titled “To The Power Of Ten”. And of course, the unique Gary John Barden is on lead vocals providing some magic.
It was the mid-Nineties, and PRAYING MANTIS music was not the hype of the moment. They didn’t care, and released an album with a true ’80s sound and style. “To The Power Of Ten” conjures the best of early Eighties Rainbow and Michael Schenker Group with a delicious scent of melodic hard rock / AOR.
For a proof, just push play on “Bring On The Night”,”Welcome To My Hollywood”, the great “Victory”, “Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark”, etc.
“To The Power Of Ten” was distributed in a few European countries, but basically it’s a Japanese-only release. This is a reissue from some years after.
