REVELATION – Secrets in the Dark [Unreleased 1990-96] (2024) *HQ*

REVELATION from Boston, Massachusetts, USA, were one of the 8,000 (!) rock / metal bands that have been tracked down around the area back in the late ’80s. Each one of them was chasing the dream, recording and releasing demos, performing live shows and taking place in “Battle of the Bands” contests – aiming to get a record deal. A different age, a different shape of the music industry, a different game.
Now 2024 its being released under the title “Secrets in the Dark” the complete REVELATION recordings, from their 1990 first recordings to final tapes 1996. The early songs are classic US metal with melody. In 1995 the band changed their name to SILENT SCREAM, evolving their sound to a more progressive direction. Songs that remained unreleased until today.
This is good elaborated melodic metal in the vein of RIOT, HEIR APPARENT, the very first QUEENSRYCHE, early FATES WARNING, etc, with interesting arrangements mixing electric guitars with acoustics, and keyboards creating textures. Everything has been remastered from scratch by Kostas Scandalis at infinity studio (Thessaloniki, Greece) for the best audio quality possible.

There is a little piece of Heavy Metal history re-written in here, as there was nothing about this band somewhere near the daylight: Info, song titles, or whatever. Arkeyn Steel Records team dived into deep waters of obscurity for this one after contacting guitarist Jay Giampapa.
Even from the first melodies of the opening track from the demo 1990, it becomes clear that the music of this band is really interesting. Really strong songwriting, solid vocals, killer riffing and brighter than the sun leads, are the main features of the very good Revelation songs.

Back on the mid-90s the band changed their name to SILENT SCREAM evolving their sound to a more progressive direction and recording a bunch of different but also good songs. Melodic, technical, still metal, the SILENT SCREAM material is also very good, songs that deserved to be heard.
Arkeyn Steel Records team managed to gather all this material presenting a release that features everything this Boston based band has ever recorded. Sound quality is fine – taken from cassettes, some recently found in dusted shelves.
