CHRIS COMET is a composer, producer, arranger, keyboard player. He also engineers his album projects in his Texas based studio. After a successful session man career over Europe, Chris established in the United States 35 years ago, in Hollywood and started playing and producing in famous studios such as Westlake, A&M, Record Plant, Fantasy, and worked into the studio with all the greats, from Vinny Colaiuta (Sting, Jeff Beck) to super guitarist Michael Landau.
Comet is member of a few bands as well (NOVA The Band), but this new album, “Going Back In Time“, it’s a solo release. Of course his years in the music business pay its dues: the record is released as CHRIS COMET & Friends, as many top players are part of it.
Chris Comet play keyboards & bass, on drums there’s beasts Simon Phillips (Toto et all), Shannon Forrest (Toto), Bodo Schopf (Michael Schenker), capable Bernie Chiaravalle on lead vocals (alongside other 4 singers), bass player Craig Young (Michael McDonald, Elton John), Stephen Honde (Hollywood Monsters) on guitar, and many more.
Musically, “Going Back In Time” speaks by itself – this is ’70s / 80s inclined classic rock with a strong progressive feel – the kind of upbeat prog, with keys / guitars runs – and melodic hard rock is a style reminiscent of BOSTON, STYX, REO Speedwagon, Touch, recent Mark Mangold KEYS, even MAGNUM, and TEN.
Well composed & recorded Going Back In Time sports that Seventies / Eighties feeling with today’s sound technology. This is a project long time in the making and you can hear some differences in production / session mix, but overall this is a finely rounded independent album.
It’s really nice to see musicians in America still carrying the flag of this timeless type of rock.
