AEROSMITH – Rocks Donington (2015)
*
“AEROSMITH Rocks Donington” captures band in action at last year’s European festival formerly known as ‘The Monster of Rock’. The concert, recorded and filmed on HD, was initially released to theaters but as you might have imagined it has now made it’s way onto DVD, BluRay and a double CD, and will be available on stores tomorrow, September 4.
Aerosmith Rocks.
Fans of the band all around our world hold this eternal truth to be self-evident. And make no mistake, when we say Aerosmith ‘Rocks’, we are not simply name-dropping Aerosmith’s classic 1975 album – though that enduring record surely does remain one of the most defining and most kick ass recordings in Rock history.
Instead, when we say today that Aerosmith ‘Rocks’, we are declaring loud and clear that this extraordinary band – now, as in the beginning, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer – thoroughly Rocks our world as arguably one of the greatest live rock groups here and now.
Just one good look and listen to “Aerosmith Rocks Donington” proves this point, and it does so with the same kind of power and passion that has always remained at the very heart of the live Aerosmith experience.
Rocks Donington has it’s fair share of the commercial era such as “Eat the Rich,” “Love in an Elevator,” “Livin’ on the Edge,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” or the hit “I Don’t Want Miss a Thing”, with classic early Aerosmith in “Last Child,” “Toys in the Attic,” “No More No More,” “Come Together,” and the stupendous “Mama Kin.”
The sound of the recording is very good and surprisingly, more raw & rockin’ than I expected, and this benefits the 20-track set in its rock ‘n roll approach.
“Aerosmith Rocks Donington” is a good investment for the casual and longtime fan, featuring all their hits performed with a welcomed fire.
