DeGARMO & KEY – D&K [Digitally Remastered] (2022) *HQ*

Here we have more from the just released second batch of DeGARMO & KEY albums digitally remastered, ’80s LP’s you need to check out if fan of that decade.
Musically, previous DeGARMO & KEY albums fluctuated between melodic rock and keyboard-driven light AOR / pop-rock. It was 1987 when the band released their 8th album simply titled ”D&K”: melodic hard rock was ‘in the air’ in America – hence, they took a turn towards a heavier rock direction on this CD.
As the Eighties transitioned to the Nineties, DeGarmo & Key would have their moments on albums such as The Pledge (1989), Heat It Up (1993) and To Extremes (1994) but none would match the consistency and continuity of what I felt where their two finest releases: ‘Straight On’ and this ”D&K”.
”D&K” certainly rocks hard – at times crossing the threshold of hard rock – in creating a work characterized by catchy choruses and notable melodies (the songwriting here is fantastic), polished production and the strong musicianship that Eddie and Dana bring to the table.
For years hard to find and pricey collectable, now this 2022 remastered reissue (impeccable sound quality) gives you a chance to listen for the first time or re-discover ”D&K”, a rocking, very good album from 1987.

DeGARMO & KEY – Mission Of Mercy [Digitally Remastered] (2022) HQ *only at 0dayrox*

A few weeks ago we featured here the first DeGARMO & KEY albums fully remastered for the first time, now we have here the second batch reissue 2022, and their 1983 LP “Mission Of Mercy” is one of our favorites.
Mission Of Mercy” mixes DeGARMO & KEY catchy rock&pop melodies with a that radio-friendly AOR from 1982-1983, in the same vein of Franke & The Knockouts, Preview, I-Ten, etc.
Don’t be fooled by the ‘yuppie’ cover artwork, the songs into this album are all good ‘ole American AOR from the first half of the ’80s wrapped by an incredible crystal clear production. The first four tracks alone will make your day if you are fan of this era / genre.
Then there’s the superb short instrumental ‘The Gift’, mostly Ed DeGarmo’s keyboards, a track sure to please Greg Giuffria or Vince DiCola admirers, while the smooth ‘You Can’t Run from Thunder’ bring to mind the Canadian sound of 1983.
Unlike many CCM bands at that time, the quality of D&K production, mix & mastering was on par with their secular counterparts. This 2022 remaster is excellent.

DeGARMO & KEY – Street Light [Digitally Remastered] (2022) HQ *only at 0dayrox*

Here we have more from the just released second batch of DeGARMO & KEY ’80s albums digitally remastered. Released in 1986 on Power Discs Records, ”Street Light” was the band’s seventh studio album and one of their best.
Following the previous more keyboard driven albums, ”Street Light” brings the band closer to their earlier rock roots: it was 1986 and melodic rock was the order of the day. Unlike many CCM bands at that time, the quality of their production, mix & mastering (here handled by top guy Bob Ludwig) was not far below that of their secular counterparts.
”Street Light” is quite clearly an ’80s album – as demonstrated by the record jacket, which pictures Eddie DeGarmo in one of those knee-length hot pink overcoats that, in centuries of sartorial history, have been worn exclusively by ’80s-era rock stars – but one that stand the test of time via timeless melodies and catchy choruses.
This time Dana Key’s fine electric guitar work plays a significant role on the record, like in the anthemic…

DeGARMO & KEY – Commander Sozo [Digitally Remastered] (2022) HQ *only at 0dayrox*

A few weeks ago we featured here the first DeGARMO & KEY albums fully remastered for the first time, now we have here the second batch reissue 2022, and their 1985 LP “Commander Sozo & The Charge of The Light Brigade” is one of our favorites. And that’s simply because this is a 1984-1985 production, with ‘that mid-80s’ US sound production.
While DeGARMO & KEY origins were rock&pop / slightly bluesy melodic rock based, by the time “Commander Sozo & The Charge of The Light Brigade” was written & recorded, DeGarmo & Key fully embraced the synth-driven AOR style from the era.
There’s loads of vintage and modern synths, big drums, sharp clean guitars and catchy choruses, all perfectly polished and this remaster brings everything bright, clear.

DeGARMO & KEY – The Pledge [Girder Records Digitally Remastered] (2022) *only at 0dayrox*

Some weeks ago we featured here the first DeGARMO & KEY albums fully remastered for the first time, now we have here the second batch reissue 2022, and their 1989 LP “The Pledge” is one of our favorites. And that’s simply because this is a 1988-89 production, perhaps the best era for this type od uber-produced, crystalline sounding album.
Led by keyboardist Eddie DeGarmo and frontman / guitarist Dana Key, between 1978 – 1980 DeGarmo & Key released 3 very good records mixing classic rock with lite progressive touches, but according to times they migrated to a more pop / rock / FM AOR style.
By the time “The Pledge” was written & recorded, DeGarmo & Key were into a full-on radio-friendly poppish AOR sound, and this album includes some of their most anthemic, bombastic songs from their career.
Original pressings on CD of this album has been sold for over U$D 100 on eBay and Amazon in the last few years. Thankfully with this reissue not only is affordable again, but the remastered job gets the album in its fullest…

As requested, here’s another of the recently remastered albums (for the first time) from duo DeGARMO & KEY, who in fact were a full band led by keyboardist Eddie DeGarmo: and frontman / guitarist
Dana Key. DeGarmo & Key were forerunners and pioneers of early CCM rock, but their music transcended outside religious circles and reached several markets all over their 3-decade career.
Straight On”, the second effort from DeGARMO & KEY from 1979 was a bit of a transition album; while debut had a classic rock, blues feel and some progressive, ”Straight On” incorporated the sound & style rapidly growing in America: FM radio friendly rock, so the band added a lot of keyboards, catchy refrains, sing-along choruses and a production bringing to mind early TOTO, BENNY MARDONES, EDDIE MONEY, iTEN, etc…

DeGARMO & KEY’s style always has been sweet rock&pop melodic oriented according to times, however on this debut, alongside the FM radio friendly harmonies the band shows some progressive feeling, accessible but elaborated melodies with some KANSAS, even STYX on it…

DeGARMO & KEY – This Ain’t Hollywood [Digitally Remastered] (2021) *0dayrox Exclusive*

As requested, here’s one of the recently remastered albums (for the first time) from duo DeGARMO & KEY, who in fact were a full band led by keyboardist Eddie DeGarmo: and frontman / guitarist Dana Key. DeGarmo & Key were forerunners and pioneers of early CCM rock, but their music transcended outside religious circles and reached several markets all over their 3-decade career.
This Ain’t Hollywood” is DeGARMO & KEY third album and being from 1980, it really needed a sonic refresh, now remastered by Rob Colwell (Bombworks Sound) with a pristine sound quality.
DeGARMO & KEY’s style always has been sweet rock&pop melodic oriented according to times, and “This Ain’t Hollywood” has that FM Rock sound from 1980 similar to the first TOTO albums, the first BALANCE, etc, with smooth harmonies and WestCoast AOR touches.
A young Jimi Jamison did backing vocals all over this album…
