STREETHEART – Drugstore Dancer [Rock Candy remaster]

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy releases to complete collections, and here’s the delicious ”Drugstore Dancer” by STREETHEART, fully remastered from original tapes.
Whilst they’re probably one of the lesser known Canadian bands of the ’70s and ’80s, Winnipeg-based STREETHEART had a string of gold & platinum records in their homeland, charting with all six of their studio albums, a double live offering and a posthumous collection of outtakes, as well as numerous hit singles.
However, as far as most non-Canadians are concerned their claims to fame will be that founding guitarist Paul Dean and drummer Matt Frenette went on to form Loverboy and a later line-up originally wrote and recorded Hardline’s signature tune ‘Hot Cherie’ back in 1982, strangely opting not to include it on the album it was recorded for.
Originally issued in 1980, “Drugstore Dancer” was Streetheart’s fourth album and the first with the AORish sound that would made Canadian bands famous during the decade…

STREETHEART – Best Of Streetheart

Requested by one of you, here’s STREETHEART “Best Of Streetheart“. Streetheart was one of the seminal bands of the Canadian Melodic Rock / AOR movement. Formed by keyboard player Daryl Gutheil and bassist Spider (Ken Sinnaeve), the band gained considerable success at the beginning of the Eighties in North America with their albums achieving platinum status.
Streetheart’s career was a 5-year rush, sharing stages with Styx, Kansas, Aldo Nova, Chilliwack, April Wine, Rush and more…

STREETHEART – Dancing With Danger [Rock Candy remastered]

The other title from Canadian melodic rockers STREETHEART remastered by Rock Candy Records is their more mainstream LP “Dancing With Danger“, regarded by many as one of the best rocking albums produced by a Canuck band during the first half of the ’80s.
Revered as a Canadian musical institution, this five man melodic rock band carved out a reputation second to none during the early ’80s maple leaf music scene. Brandishing a sound that fused gritty hard rock with lashings of melody, they crafted instantly memorable songs and were fronted by one of Canada’s most lauded and capable vocalists in Kenny Shields.
Despite notching up a string of gold and platinum selling albums in Canada they were virtually unheard outside their homeland… something that needed to be seriously addressed.
