On the previous post we presented the Japanese remaster of the first, multi-platinum full length debut album by RATT, also remastered by Rock Candy. But Ratt’s second record “Invasion of Your Privacy” is of particular interest because seems it wasn’t licensed for a new remaster.
So this “Invasion of Your Privacy” Japanese remaster on SHM-CD (Cardboard Sleeve mini LP) is the latest – and really awesome – remasterization for this great album.

Hot on the heels of their successful debut and produced again by super talented Beau Hill providing an even glossier treatment, Ratt released their second album “Invasion Of Your Privacy” in June of 1985.
The melody, the hooks and the catchy choruses are still here, but this album showed the band growing as musicians and songwriters.
Driven by guitarists Warren DeMartini and the late Robbin Crosby (RIP) “Invasion Of Your Privacy” is more edgy, punchy and in many ways, more rocking than its predecessor.

Everyone knows the great singles “Lay It Down”, “You’re in Love” and “What You Give Is What You Get”, but every song on this album is super.
I think this is why I like this studio effort better than Out of the Cellar because there is no filler. At some point when they were writing and recording for this album, Ratt just got into a ‘climax zone’.
Particularly “Never Use Love”, “Give It All” and “Got Me On The Line” showcase more elaborated arrangements still retaining the catchy factor.
Ratt’s first ballad also appeared on this album. “Closer To My Heart” is your normal hair metal ballad but with a given boost of energy that makes it rocking anyway.

This “Invasion of Your Privacy” Japanese remaster on SHM-CD is excellent, with a terrific sound and a proper dynamic range avoiding a sonic brickwall.
A Limited Release sadly now out of print. If you are interested in this collector’s item, try at auction websites but be prepared to pay an exaggerated amount of money.
One of the best Hard Rock albums from the ’80s.
A Must Have Classic.
