Swedes AGE OF REFLECTION are releasing their self-titled debut EP, and what a delightful slice of pure AOR it is.
Age Of Reflection is the culmination of ten years worth of hard work by founder Carl Berglund, a long lived dream that came true when he got together with Jan Skärming (bass) and started writing songs with the heart of ’80s rock giants.
After years of searching they finally found the two missing pieces of the Age Of Reflection puzzle; Jonas Nordqvist (lead guitar) and singer Lars Nygren, owner of classy vocals with a smooth register.
Adorned with melodic guitar riffs and huge harmony vocals, ‘Dying For Your Love’ opens the EP in a midtempo pace with some Giant feel on it.
Next ‘Always’ brings all the magical AOR balladry in its purest form with a sound reminiscent of various Scandinavian bands of the golden era, including atmospheric guitars, pianos and velvety vocals by Nygren
‘Evelyn’ it’s the opposite, an uptempo, cheerful melodic rocker with fantastic chorus in the vein of the classy ’80s British AOR, then ‘In The Heat Of The Night’ is that kind of epic tunes blending AOR waves with melodic rock which at places reminds me Bronz, the English band and their superb ’85 album.
“Age Of Reflection” delivers 4 delicious tracks combining the melodies from classic British AOR, the punch of American Melodic Rock, and the hooks from the new era of Swedish Melodic Rock, all mixed with taste.
