In a similar way that Sony Music Japan recently did with their AOR CITY 1000 series, Warner Music Japan does the same with the best titles from their catalogue releasing this ‘AOR Best Selection 1300’, with an affordable price of 1300 Yen (around $11), all remastered and pressed on high quality SHM-CD.
Among the must have gems, there’s DAVID PACK classic “Anywhere You Go“.

“Anywhere You Go” is the first full-length solo recording from David Pack, the lead singer for the great band Ambrosia. The album was released in 1985 crafted with the typical pristine production from the era.
Apart from his smooth vocals and handling most instruments, Pack was always recognized as an exceptional songwriter, and the tunes included in this CD are pure ’80s gold; five songs penned by himself, the rest co-written with the likes of Mike Porcaro, Michael McDonald, James Ingram and the great film-composer James Newton-Howard, with which wrote track 8 ‘Prove Me Wrong’ specially done for the movie ‘Wild Nights’.

The ‘who’s who’ from the L.A. Session crew play here, from talented Mike & Jeff Porcaro (Toto) to Kerry Livgren, Jai Winding, John Robinson, Stanley Clarke and many more.
Alongside David, ‘She Don’t (Come Around Anymore)’ features accompanying vocals by his good friend the fabulous Michael McDonald, while Mr. Pack’s Ambrosia bandmates, the talented Joe Puerta and Burleigh Drummond, also appear on several songs.
James Ingram contribute with his distinctive pipes on the wonderful ‘I Just Can’t Let Go’. A particular highlight for me is ‘That Girl is Gone’ which has a very upbeat rhythm.
‘Prove Me Wrong’ is great as well, with that classy ’80s movie feeling.

“Anywhere You Go” could be summarized in two words; finesse and class.
Why David Pack has never become a household name continues to elude me. His very recognizable voice is one of the clearest and best from the last three decades. He is an incredibly talented musician, songwriter and producer as well.

We used to have a widget with something similar to "If you like this, you'll also like…", but you know, blogger is quite sensitive with these add-ons, and it was retired.
We'll try to implement a new one.
    Suggestions are always welcome.

That would be fabulous. Even if we could click on your "Highly Recommended" or "Must Have" phrases as links and see your whole lists, that would cool. There's so many hidden gems out there and you've listened to everything so we need your expertise ! Or simply would love to see your list of top 80s albums~~
