MICHAEL BORMANN – Rock Hard (2018)
Versatile German vocalist MICHAEL BORMANN (Jaded Heart, Redrum, Bonfire, The Trophy) is releasing today a brand new album titled “Rock Hard“.
While Bormann is recording the debut of his own band ‘Michael Bormann´s Jaded Hard’, this “Rock Hard” is a retrospective of his past works, partially re-mixed / re-mastered, and featuring 2 brand newly recorded songs.
Some time ago Bormann released ‘Love Is Magic (Best of Ballads)’, a compilation focused on the more mellow part of his songwriting / recordings.
Now “Rock Hard” takes the rockin’ side of his solo career, a rundown on the last twenty years of his more than thirty-five-year long musical career, and the material selected, believe me, is top notch melodic hard rock.
Founding and longtime member of Germany’s rockers Jaded Heart, he carried on with the band (while still maintaining involvement in other projects) until 2004 when he left unhappy with the heavier direction wanted by the rest of the band, and to pursue a solo career.
Now 2018 the vocalist is back with his own version of the band, ‘Michael Bormann´s Jaded Hard’, recording its debut right now.
Meanwhile, this “Rock Hard” is a superb selection of melodic hard rockers.
Seems that due to licensing troubles there’s not a single selection from his self-titled debut, but indeed from his excellent second album ‘Conspiracy’, such as title track or ‘It’s Only Physical’, where I can hear a fresh re-mix.
From this album there’s as well the highlight ‘Stand Up 2017’, as you see, recently re-recorded with a more vibrant sound.
The other of the new tracks is a re-recorded version of Jaded Heart’s ‘Live and Let Die’ (not a Wings / McCartney cover), quite different from the original.
“Rock Hard” is a truly great showcase of Michael Bormann talents, a terrific compilation of brilliant Melodic Hard Rock songs pleny of AOR waves and top class vocals.
