LOUDNESS – Hurricane Eyes [30th Anniversary Ltd Edition Box 5-CD remastered] (2017) Exclusive
To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of one LOUDNESS‘ most iconic albums, Nippon Columbia released this awesome “Hurricane Eyes [30th Anniversary Limited Edition Premium Box 5-CD]”, a true collector’s piece.
This monster box includes the main album both in its English and Japanese sung versions freshly remastered 2017, comes with a special giant 72-page booklet booklet including commentary, lyrics, and tons of never seen rare photos, plus a replica of a laminated stage-pass of “Hurricane Eyes Tour”
But what marks special interest are the 3 (!) extra CD’s featuring previously unreleased material.
Some time ago we featured here “Hurricane Eyes” remastered, but this is a completely new remastering job done by Chris Bellman in L.A.
On disc 2 there’s the Japan version of the album sung in Japanese and with different mix / tracklist order, also freshly remastered at Tokyo Warner Music Mastering by Ryuichi Tanaka.
And then we have the 3 discs of rarities, previously unreleased.
Disc 3 “Demo Tracks” features pre-production demos from the album, but also from other sessions with songs not present in “Hurricane Eyes”, such as ‘Love Toys’, co-written with Mike Vescera.
The sound quality is excellent, Loudness always recorded their pre-production tracks on high quality equipment, all done in a truly professional way.
Disc 4 is titled ‘Behind The Hurricane Eyes’, and features the “Hurricane Eyes” songs in its ‘backing tracks’ mode, with the voice-guide back in the mix and enhacing the instrumental multi-tracks.
This is a must for guitar fans as Akira Takasaki rhythm guitar and solos are at the forefront. Almost an electric guitar lesson.
But there’s much more; we have the very early ‘Hungry Hunter – Old Mix’ which was intended to be the final version but later remixed, ‘Rock This Way – Top 40 Mix’ in a more commercial ‘single mix’ but never released, a crazy ‘S.D.I. – Instrumental Mix’, and more.
Disc 5 featured Loudness’ live performance in England at Hammersmith Odeon, recorded October 11, 1986, when the band toured Europe and America to conquer the market.
Again, the sound quality is excellent, very well mixed, punchy and heavy.
“Hurricane Eyes [30th Anniversary Limited Edition Premium Box 5-CD]” is a true ‘collectors item’, including the album remastered in all its glory plus the worthy previously unreleased material.
The package is fantastic, with a great booklet printe on glossy paper full or never seen photos, all lyrics and a complete description of all the material included.
A Must Have
