CHRIS ANTBLAD – Lion (2019) *EXCLUSIVE*
After the recent CHRIS ANTBLAD request, we figured out the Swede has been releasing several singles recently, month after month (the last June 2019), something many musicians has chosen instead of a full album. Compiled under the title “Lion“, we have bunch of very enjoyable Melodic Rock songs here.
Known for his work alongside guitarist Tommy Denander and songwriting for other Scandinavian rock artists, now 2019 Antblad manage everything by his own: writing, arrangements, instrumentation and production.
He’s helped by some fellow musicians, but as a whole, these are Antblad’s songs.
Among the highlights, ‘Words’ is a soaring midtempo AORish tune with an infectious chorus, ‘The Last Day of Summer’ a sweet melodic rocker with a stupendous melodic line, ‘Hell is Empty’ rocks harder, and ‘Lion’ is an atmspheric ballad with that characteristic Scandinavian West Coast touch.
‘I Play The Game’ is a melodious power pop Rick Springfield inspired, ‘Noise’ has a modern Swedish melodic rock pulse, while ‘The King is Dead / Long Live the King’ adds more rocking guitars to the mix.
Very well produced by himself at his own studio, these collection of fresh singles by Chris Antblad are a really enjoyable slice of modern Swedish Melodic Rock.
Fans of Tommy Denander, Dion Byman, Street Talk, Rick Springfield and well crafted Scandi Melodic Rock need to check this.
