HERE

Vocalist John Payne (ASIA) together with keyboardist Andy Nye (MSG) formed the band PASSION at the end of the Eighties. They start writing and recording songs in order to get a contract and release the group’s debut. But the twist of fate made that all these recordings shelved. JOHN PAYNE and ANDY NYE : “The Passion” finally was released on CD some time ago, now out of print.

Unfortunately the PASSION project never got a record deal and the duo dissolved. Payne joined ASIA, and Nye become songwriter for various artists / bands (including ASIA).
However, after many years, all these songs saw the light of day for the very first time on this “The Passion”.

This is glorious ’80s AOR plenty of melody filled with amazing keyboards / synths, catchy choruses and superb vocal arrangements / layered harmonies. Featuring former IRON MAIDEN’s drummer Clive Burr and MIKE OLFIELD guitarist Ant Glynne, PASSION sounds powerful, smooth yet energetic.

I will be on the looking out for this release. I have listened to a couple tracks and they are out standing. I have been a big fan of Payne for nearly 20 years. Nice to hear more music pre-Asia era.
