ROXX (feat Goran Edman) – Lynze (2019)
Guitarist and songwriter Rodrigo Bugallo, also known as ROXX, is one of the founding members of melodic rockers Gunner, and now is presenting his debut solo album “Lynze” where shows his abilities as axe-man, but there’s also sung tracks performed by no-other than talented Swede Göran Edman.
Roxx is a teacher, session-man and an experienced rock guitarist able to play varied styles on guitar, and a tasteful songwriter as well.
We have featured here at 0dayrox the last two Gunner albums, both really cool. While the material written by Roxx for Gunner is oriented to ’80s Californian melodic hard / glam metal with even some AOR touches, he’s a shredder.
With varied influences ranging from Blackmore / Yngwie to Ronnie LeTeKro or john Norun, Roxx delivers avery interesting set of electrifying instrumental songs such as ‘Too Fast to Stop!’, ‘In the Cold of the City’ or ‘Now or Never’, while for ‘Caballo Salvaje’ (Wild Horse) he shows his skills and gusto on Spanish guitar.
Cleverly, between two instrumental tracks, Roxx features a song with lyrics, performed by the great Göran Edman. My favorite is the punchy AOR rhythm of ‘Dark Side of Love’ which is adorned by nice synths and harmony vocals.
Then midtempo melodic rocker ‘Break Off Your Walls’ could have been written by Tommy Denander, and then ‘The Eye of the Lynx’ goes for a classic hard rock riff and top vocals by Göran.
“Lynze” certainly entertains, very well composed and performed by this practiced guitarist, and we have here songs with Göran Edman, always a pleasure to listen to.
