Recorded live ‘in the kitchen’ over the course of 16 weeks during the lockdown of 2020, TOBY JEPSON (Wayward Sons, Little Angels, Fastway, Gun) is releasing “Kitchen Up Busk ; The Lockdown Sessions“, special limited edition double CD featuring 32 acoustic songs from Toby’s back catalogue, as well as spoken word tracks recorded exclusively for this one time release.
This is an official Toby Jepson special limited edition gatefold double CD, featuring songs performed live from Toby’s Kitchen during lockdown in 2020.
Born in Lincoln, Toby Matthew Jepson is the energetic frontman of bands like Little Angels, Fastway, Gun and presently is axeman and vocalist of Wayward Sons. Toby has been present on the British music scene for over 30 years and has written some mighty fine tunes during his illustrious career, but like most musicians he is facing the prospect of isolation like most of the world.
Toby has taken to social media like most musicians and is doing online gigs as a way of reaching fans from all over the world and bringing his music and chat to all in the hope that fans will tune in and request sons from his vast catalogue of songs.
He did it simple: he and his guitar – from his kitchen – and performing live interacting with fans.
As example, ‘Do You Want A Riot’ is upon us at 100mph with his fast handwork up and down the neck of his trusty acoustic guitar, vocals are sounding great with that gravelly thrust in there for good measure.
‘Pleasure Pyre’ was written / recorded with Dan Reed, here is brought with Toby strumming hard on the guitar and belting out strong melodic vocals.
‘Broken Wings Of An Angel’ is beautifully presented with on point acoustic playing and mellow vocals that have real soul and a message to them.
“Kitchen Up Busk ; The Lockdown Sessions” is a true live album – no overdubs of multi-track mixing – just Jepson and his guitar. It sounds like it comes: ‘performed in the kitchen’, honest, almost by you side at home.
