As requested, here’s the rare, hard to find Limited Edition of DAVID LEE ROTH‘s ”Skyscraper” released as part of the ‘Warner Hard Rock 1500‘ Japanese reissue series from some years ago, named after the tag price of ¥1,500.
I know many will call me nuts – but in my humble opinion, ”Skyscraper” is a masterpiece. A hair metal masterpiece, a pop-rock masterpiece, mainstream rock progressive masterpiece. All of that. ”Skyscraper” is progressive, yes, considering what second half of the ’80s industry rock was.
Having Steve Vai at his prime with green light to create, ”Skyscraper” was innovative from every corner regarding this genre – and at the same time met all major label requirements to be commercial, catchy, and darn fun.
“Skyscraper” never got a remastering treatment – there’s a vinyl version ‘remastered’, but that’s in terms to get a proper modern LP output – not ‘tweaked’ as the modern remastering we all know. But wait to hear this ‘Warner Hard Rock 1500’ Japan press: it sounds fabulous, million times better than any previous CD release.
