ANDY LINDQUIST – Splendidly Broken (2023)
Perhaps the name of ANDY LINDQUIST doesn’t ring a bell for many, but this guitarist, vocalist and prolific songwriter played o many bands since the ’80s and wrote song for others. Born in North Dakota, Andy moved to Minneapolis in 1983. He played with many bands in the Twin Cities, namely Night Train, Fat City, Big Logic. During the 80s and 90s Andy got development deals with Crysallis and BBC Records. In 2000, Andy moved to Seattle to take a position as one of Ann Wilson’s Heart guitar players.
As solo artist Lindquist released a ton of albums, most of them blues based, some with a hard / classic rock approach. But now he’s presenting ”Splendidly Broken”, his new recording, which is different.
”Splendidly Broken” has a pop-rock Seventies feel & sound very much in the vein of ELO and Queen. And we know we have many fans of these reading 0dayrox, so we think you need to check out this pretty wonderful album rich in melody, harmony vocals, timeless guitar work.
Andy’s voice has a Jeff Lynne resemblance here, and the organic production (handled by himself) feels natural, giving these melodic songs a sweet atmosphere.
