BANG TANGO – Live Injection [first indie album] (1989)
BANG TANGO was founded by guitarist Mark Knight and bassist Kyle Kyle in 1988, both looking for a second guitarist and recruited Kyle Stevens. At the suggestion of Rough Cutt’s Amir Derakh, vocalist Joe Leste joined the band as its frontman which led to Leste’s childhood friend, Tigg Ketler, completing the 5 piece line up as Bang Tango’s drummer.
The group then began to write songs and play gigs that would gain a following on the Sunset Strip scene in Hollywood, packing all the popular clubs and venues at the time. While there were recording labels eager to sign Bang Tango, they opted to record and release their first album by themselves.
But Bang Tango desire was to capture the energy of their shows, and the choice was to record the album live. The result is “Live Injection“, a kick ass, rockin’ album captured live in Hollywood. The sound quality is excellent, crisp, raw in your face rock n’ roll. “Live Injection” and Bang Tango’s popularity led to a bidding war with many major labels, with MCA Records wining.
While Bang Tango later released other live albums, none captures the magic of this “Live Injection” (no overdubs). Also the songs are special – most of these not used in future albums – including an assassin cover Hanoi Rocks “Futurama”.
