BREV SULLIVAN – Arena Summer (2024)
BREV SULLIVAN is a Florida based guitarist proficient in multiple genres, from hard rock rock to pop, also being touring guitarist for Grammy nominated jazz legend Ira Sullivan. Brev worked with Lita Ford, Kip Winger, it’s the Soloist for Miami Symphony Orchestra, among others. Brev also was the guitarist for the band featured in the Warner Bros ‘ROCK OF AGES’ movie.
While Brev Sullivan is a versatile musician, his true love is ’80s melodic hard rock and that’s what we hear in his new album “Arena Summer“. Its title and the album cover art puts clear what his record is all about. Sullivan performs all instruments, but he’s a fine vocalist too.
Tracks like the driving opener ‘Tonight’, the catchy ‘Tonight’, the rocking ‘The Strong Survive’, and the midtempo AOR ‘One in a Million’ are indeed songs ready for the arenas – and for the Summer. Brev is a guitar virtuoso too – main influences Randy Rhoads & Eddie Van Halen – and he drops some awesome instrumentals too, short, in a song-format and very melodious.
‘Saturday’ and ‘Arena’ are a showcase for Brev’s six-string skills, punchy driven guitar swirling tunes with razor rhythm guitars and effective solos. All of these easily could be part of any rock-related movie soundtrack.
“Arena Summer” is a self-made record, well produced and executed, and while there’s programmed drums, these songs rock hard with that classic ’80s feeling.
