As requested, here’s 1989 ”Can’t Fight The Midnight”, the debut and only solo album by American singer JIMMY HARNEN. Harnen was member of Pennsylvania-based melodic rockers Synch, whom released a domestic / private LP in 1986.
Almost 3 years after, a radio DJ started to play one of the songs from the Synch LP, the power ballad “Where Are You Now”, and WTG, a new record label at the time, signed Harnen as a solo artist. A big budget production was prepared, and the who’s who from the LA Session crew hired.
The personnel for ”Can’t Fight The Midnight” is impressive – on guitar; Michael Thompson, Steve Lukather, Tim Pierce & Albert Lee (Wow!), legend Mike Baird on drums, Randy Jackson on bass & arrangements.

A new version of “Where Are You Now” was re-recorded for the album (produced by AOR band Dakota musicians Jerry G. Hludzik & Rick Manwiller), and the single peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1989.
Fans of ’80s smooth, melodic pristine AOR/Melodic rock in the vein of Richard Marx, Tim Feehan, Van Stephenson, etc, need ”Can’t Fight The Midnight” in your collection.
