ALLOS – Strong Delusion (2024)
ALLOS is a progressive metal band formed in 2003, put out their debut album nine years after, and now 2024 the group is releasing sophomore effort titled “Strong Delusion“. Not exactly the most prolific act in music history, but there’s a reason: these guys take all the time needed to refine songwriting, arrangements and production.
And it shows on “Strong Delusion”: this is an elaborated, varied, cohesive set of songs at places with intricacy, but with the right amount of it to not bore you, balanced with melody and when needed, aggressive power metal runs. You get classy melodic metal all way too with a clean powerful singer carrying the harmonies, and if you need more, you get some symphonic moments to embellish the entire work.
To make it even more interesting, legendary Rob Rock (Impellitteri) and Christian Liljegren (Narnia) appears as guest lead vocalist on one song each.
The album offers an immersive listening experience, starting with the epic “The Pilgrim’s Progress” that segues into “Follow Me”, a classic Metal track featuring Christian Liljegren from Narnia, rich in melody and powerful drumming.
Among the highlights we need to mention “All your Days”, “TeleVisione of Reality”, “Suffering and Evil”, the “Inferno”, the complex“InHuman Mind”, and “Millennium Kingdom” a track featuring the powerful voice of the legendary Rob Rock.
ALLOS also cleverly placed in the mid-tracklist a ballad, the strong “Letter from Heaven”, providing a nice relax after the precedent heavy tracks. The title track joins “System Collapse” in an immersive conceptual duo that defies the standards of the style. The album ends in the same way it begins, with the equally epic “For the Centuries”.
With a polished production and mastered by expert Thomas “Plec” Johansson, “Strong Delusion” displays a sound quality of excellence that ensures each element reaches the listener with the clarity and impact a work of this style deserves.
