EDGE OF PARADISE – Prophecy (2025) *HQ*
L.A. based cinematic hard rock frontrunners EDGE OF PARADISE will release their first album with Napalm Records, ‘‘Prophecy”, out March 7, 2025. The band’s heaviest venture to date, and first to feature 8-string guitars, ”Prophecy” rocks driven with boisterous riffs and soaring hooks. Lyrically, enigmatic frontwoman Margarita Monet beckons listeners to embrace their humanity, and remember that their ”Prophecy” is in their hands.
The album kicks off in explosive fashion with opening track “Death Note”, a bombastic crash through apathetic walls encouraging listeners to break free from their technological isolation, and embrace connection with others over numb comfort alone. A killer composition from the outset, with Monet delivering crushing vocals that showcase her impressive range, complemented by an incredibly addictive chorus. This track features a punishing groove and an excellent mid-section breakdown that transitions into a tight drum/guitar combination, maintaining perfect momentum throughout.
“Give It To Me (Mind Assassin)” cranks up the intensity with an irresistible driving pulse propelled even further by an infectiously dancy chorus. A raucous fight for authenticity and self-realization, “Prophecy Unbound” careens through claustrophobically tight riffage, blossoming into a lush and cathartic belt-along chorus.
The winding serpentine melodies of “Falling Light” explode with Monet’s venomous soaring vocals, dancing around ethereal synth textures, enveloping listeners in a sonic gothic cathedral. “Rogue (Aim For The Kill)” is a full-throttle modern rock track about perseverance in the face of seeming unbeatable adversity. “The Other Side of Fear” is an energized rager built on pulsating dance beats and features a standout guitar solo from composer and commander-in-shred Dave Bates.
What makes “Prophecy” particularly compelling is how it builds upon their established foundation while expanding their sonic palette. The addition of Doug Wayand on eight-string guitar has given Bates new territory to explore, resulting in their most cohesive work to date. Monet’s voice dark elements blend seamlessly with the metallic foundation, creating something genuinely distinctive in today’s metal landscape.
It’s particularly rewarding to witness a band coming into their own, especially one that has been diligently working since 2011. They started from nothing, and now signed by a prestigious metal label with an impressive roster, the band deserves even greater exposure.
