BADD BOYZ (Paul Shortino) – No, No, Nikkie (2021) *0dayrox Exclusive*

BADD BOYZ was the late ’80s project of Paul Shortino and bass player Sean McNabb formed when they leave Quiet Riot. The line up was completed by other talented musicians namely Mitch Perry (MSG, Talas, Steeler, Heaven), Michael Guy (Shark Island, House of Lords) and Rich Carlton.
Managed by Wendy Dio, the band had a deal with Pasha Records, but Murphy’s Law prevailed and the band broke up. Eventually, an 8-track album sel-tilted ‘Badd Boyz’ appeared in 1993 only in Japan, a rarity now.
Now Demon Doll Records is un-earthing this forgotten melodic hard rock little gem plenty of huge hooks, killer choruses, and gang backing vocals. Shortino sounds particularly good on this album, perhaps one of his best and unknown performances.
The album not only has been remastered but additional songs were found – never before released – and alongside new artwork and re-titled “No, No, Nikkie” (as one of the ‘new’ tracks) this is one of the most welcomed releases this year.

MITCH PERRY (Badd Boyz) – Better Late Than Never (1998) [rare albums]

Between stints playing with such legends as Michael Schenker and Billy Sheehan, guitarist MITCH PERRY was involved with two bands that never got a fair chance to fulfill their potential: 7% SOLUTION and BADD BOYZ.
These recordings were finally released on this album titled “Better Late Than Never“, now out of print with copies being sold for over U$D 250. Here we can listen to these lost songs and guess what might have been had fate decided differently.
7% SOLUTION has lead vocals from Ralph Saenz (L.A. Guns) and drums by Paul Monroe (XYZ) while BADD BOYZ features ex Rough Cutt Paul Shortino, and joining Perry on both recordings there’s bass player Sean Mcnabb (Great White, Dokken).
Musically it’s a mix ’80s glam metal with melodic hard rock, catchy, hooky, plenty of quality songwriting and performances. A really good shot from the unrepeatable Eighties L.A. scene…

BADD BOYZ (Paul Shortino) – Badd Boyz [Japan only release] (1993) Rare Albums

As requested, here’s the quite unknown band BADD BOYZ and their sole self-titled album only released in Japan. Badd Boyz was a late ’80s project of Paul Shortino and bass player Sean McNabb formed when they leave Quiet Riot.
Most of the songs here were recorded 1989, others completed later by Shortino with different musicians and after an arrangement with a Japanese label, only released there in 1993.
This is a forgotten little gem plenty of huge rockin’ hooks, killer choruses, and gang backing vocals. Shortino sounds particularly good on this album, perhaps one of his best and unknown performances.
