Paul Shortino’s THE CUTT – Sacred Place [Demon Doll reissue 2022] HQ *Only at 0dayrox*

Demon Doll Records & Paul Shortino are at it once again. After the wildly successful releases of Rough Cutt ‘III’, BlueDahlia and Badd Boyz, the two have teamed up once again to reissue THE CUTT’s one and only ass kicking album ”Sacred Place”.
For those not in the know on this project, Paul Shortino’s THE CUTT was formed by Paul & JT Garrett and the album consists of an amazing array of musicians including the likes of ex- Aerosmith guitarist Jimmy Crespo, Night Ranger guitarist Brad Gillis, Heart’s axe-man Howard Leese, as well as Quiet Riot alumni Carlos Cavazo, Sean McNabb & Chuck Wright among others.
What else could a die hard Rock N’ Roll fan ask for?

ROUGH CUTT – Anthology [2xCD] (2019 release) *0dayrox Exclusive*

ROUGH CUTT not only was one of the most consistent hard rock acts during the 80s, but also one of the most prolific. Despite of officially releasing only two albums in the decade, they composed a lot of material and recorded it with very good quality standards.
As requested, here’s this release by Dead Line / Cleo Recs titled “Anthology“, taking a deep look at ROUGH CUTT’s history. It isn’t a ‘greatest hits’ at all, but a selection of studio recordings, demos, unreleased material and live captures from the vaults – compiled on a spectacular 2-CD set.
We have their very early ’84 recordings, unreleased material from the first album studio sessions, a really good live recording from 1985, and more…

BLUEDAHLIA feat. Paul Shortino & Tracy G – BlueDahlia (2021) *0dayrox Exclusive*

Both singer Paul Shortino and ex-Dio guitarist Tracy G always wanted to make some music together, and with the excellent return of Rough Cutt and their new album ‘III’, the opportunity raised to record the songs they have been writing for two years.
They baptized the band BLUEDAHLIA, inspired by ‘Blue Dahlia’ – an old Alan Ladd movie, then there was another later called the Black Dahlia – and according to both musicians, this kind of leans towards a Heavy Blues Rock.
And that’s “BlueDahlia” focus; edgy melodic classic bluesy hard rock, dominated by Shortino impeccable vocals – he born to perform this kind of stuff – and Tracy’s stellar guitar work, plenty of killer riffs and jaw-dropping solos…

BADD BOYZ (Paul Shortino) – No, No, Nikkie (2021) *0dayrox Exclusive*

BADD BOYZ was the late ’80s project of Paul Shortino and bass player Sean McNabb formed when they leave Quiet Riot. The line up was completed by other talented musicians namely Mitch Perry (MSG, Talas, Steeler, Heaven), Michael Guy (Shark Island, House of Lords) and Rich Carlton.
Managed by Wendy Dio, the band had a deal with Pasha Records, but Murphy’s Law prevailed and the band broke up. Eventually, an 8-track album sel-tilted ‘Badd Boyz’ appeared in 1993 only in Japan, a rarity now.
Now Demon Doll Records is un-earthing this forgotten melodic hard rock little gem plenty of huge hooks, killer choruses, and gang backing vocals. Shortino sounds particularly good on this album, perhaps one of his best and unknown performances.
The album not only has been remastered but additional songs were found – never before released – and alongside new artwork and re-titled “No, No, Nikkie” (as one of the ‘new’ tracks) this is one of the most welcomed releases this year.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

BROTHERS IN ARMS – Sunset And Clark (2021)

Guitarist / songwriter JACK FROST (Savatage, Jean Beauvoir, Aldo Nova) already pleased us some time ago with his album ‘Out In The Cold’ featuring a wide list of star vocalists / musicians from the ’80s / early 90s melodic hard rock scene.
BROTHERS IN ARMS is Frost’s new project, releasing today the album ”Sunset And Clark”, a wonderful 10-track collection of killer melodic hard rockin’ tunes plenty of super singers / musicians involved.
As example, the song ‘Last To Know’ features Jack on guitar along with vocalist Andrew Freeman (Last In Line, Lynch Mob, Hurricane), drummer Karl Wilcox (Diamond Head), bassist Alex Jansen (Hardline) and keyboardist Charlie Calv (Angel). Then the fun ‘Bitch Is Crazy’ has in vocals Keith St John (Montrose, Kingdome Come, Burning Rain), drummer Karl Wilcox (Diamond Head), and bassist Alex Jansen (Hardline).
And the stellar cast continues including Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot), Steve Overland (FM, Overland), Nick Walsh (Moxy, Slik Toxik), Jesse Damon (Silent Rage), Todd Poole (Roxy Blue), Dave Amato (REO Speedwagon), Mick Mahan (Pat Benatar)…

For this album the band were back with the classic line-up, except Marcie Free, replaced by ex Rough Cutt & Quiet Riot Paul Shortino. Like fine wine, King Kobra has matured with age, delivering strong songs and a potent production sound. Listeners will be treated to what they would expect from classic KK – memorable crunchy guitar riffs, tight harmonies and awesome vocals…

BADD BOYZ (Paul Shortino) – Badd Boyz [Japan only release] (1993) Rare Albums

As requested, here’s the quite unknown band BADD BOYZ and their sole self-titled album only released in Japan. Badd Boyz was a late ’80s project of Paul Shortino and bass player Sean McNabb formed when they leave Quiet Riot.
Most of the songs here were recorded 1989, others completed later by Shortino with different musicians and after an arrangement with a Japanese label, only released there in 1993.
This is a forgotten little gem plenty of huge rockin’ hooks, killer choruses, and gang backing vocals. Shortino sounds particularly good on this album, perhaps one of his best and unknown performances.

PAUL SHORTINO / JK NORTHRUP – Back On Track [Digitally Remastered +4 Bonus Tracks]

As requested, here’s the hard to find ‘10th Anniversary remastered reissue‘ of PAUL SHORTINO / JK NORTHRUP collaboration album “Back On Track“, featuring new artwork and 4 new tracks exclusive to this Shire Records release.
When he was fronting Rough Cutt in ’80s, Paul Shortino made so many friends. So for this recording he’s got help  from members of Great White, King Kobra, Dokken and several other bands, and with his friend Jeff “JK” Northrup put together this excellent record in the early Nineties, with all the feeling & sound from the 1990-92 American hard rock scene.
While rather hard to find – at least a used copy – as it is on a very small label, this diamond in the rough is well worth tracking down if you are a fan of any of Shortino’s work – past or present – and the first albums of House Of Lords, 21 Guns, Hurricane, etc.
