Deko Entertainment team up with Carmine Appice to release digital deluxe editions of two KING KOBRA albums, ‘Sweden Rock Live (Deluxe Edition)’, and this reissue of the band’s 2011 comeback self-titled album originally appeared via Frontiers Music.
King Kobra [Deluxe Edition +2]” includes two studio bonus tracks, one of them written & recorded as a tribute to the great Ronnie James Dio.
For this album the band were back with the classic line-up, except Marcie Free, replaced by ex Rough Cutt & Quiet Riot Paul Shortino. Like fine wine, King Kobra has matured with age, delivering strong songs and a potent production sound. Listeners will be treated to what they would expect from classic KK – memorable crunchy guitar riffs, tight harmonies and awesome vocals…

KING KOBRA – Sweden Rock Live [Deluxe Edition / The Complete Show] (2021)

Deko Entertainment team up with Carmine Appice to release digital deluxe editions of two KING KOBRA albums, starting today with their electrifying performance at Sweden Rock festival. “Sweden Rock Live (Deluxe Edition)” includes the band’s entire set with 3 never before released tracks, among them the classic ‘Iron Eagle (Never Say Die)’ from the movie of the same title.
This event was very special, with King Kobra reunited again after many years performing the band’s classics here, but also a cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Heaven And Hell’ plus a stunning cover of Deep Purple’s ‘Highway Star’. From the opening riff of ‘Ready To Strike’, I’m pleased to say that the recording / production is of a very good quality and captures the band in strong and energetic form…

KING KOBRA – Thrill Of A Lifetime [Rock Candy remastered +1]

Fronted by the unique Marcie (Mark) Free, KING KOBRA was one of the outstanding acts from the ’80s US Melodic Hard Rock scene. Their two first, most celebrated albums were ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ by Rock Candy Records for our pleasure. As requested, here’s “Thrill Of A Lifetime“, their second effort, a much more melodic rock / AORish oriented affair. On...

KING KOBRA – Ready To Strike [Rock Candy remastered]

Fronted by the unique Marcie (Mark) Free, KING KOBRA was one of the outstanding acts from the ’80s US Melodic Hard Rock scene. Their two first, most celebrated albums, have been ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ by Rock Candy Records for our pleasure.
Criminally underrated during the hair metal heyday – King Kobra certainly deserved a huge success – the band combined the killer drumming of legend Carmine Appice with the talents of vocalist Mark Free (later Marcie Free), guitarists David Henzerling and Mick Sweda, and bassist Johnny Rod, the band’s first and best known lineup.
The first of the two albums reissued & remastered by Rock Candy Records is King Kobra’s debut, 1985’s “Ready To Strike“, and this is easily the more heavy, aggressive release of the two.

JK NORTHRUP (King Kobra) – JK Northrup [recorded 1988-90] (Out Of Print)

JK NORTHRUP is a recognized musician and producer having recorded with the likes of Paul Shortino and Terry Ilous, perhaps better known for his work with King Kobra in the past. You might remember that he recorded the album “III” with them back in 1988. But at the same time Jeff “JK” Northrup started to tape his own songs for a project including KK vocalist Johnny Edwards (ex- Montrose and future Foreigner).
All these material never was released until this new century when Melodic Mayhem Music put out this CD simply titled “JK Northrup“, now out of print.
And glad they did it: we have here a great slice of 80s Melodic Hard Rock of the highest order: Just listen to “The Kid Is Back In Town” or the killer “Survival in the Streets”.
HIGHLY Recommended

MARK FREE – Long Way From Love [Frontiers 2-CD remastered reissue] Out Of Print

This is another request, the expanded 2CD, remastered reissue of Long Way From Love”, the first official MARK FREE solo album. A must have in your AOR collection, this is easily among the best 10 albums from the genre released during the Nineties.
We could say that “Long Way From Love” is that kind of rare jewels you need to keep. With the help of uber talented duo mother-daughter Robin Randall & Judithe Randall to co-write, Free delivers here some of his finest songs.
The album however opens with a killer version of ‘Someday You’ll Come Running’ – a song by British AORsters FM and also recorded by Airkraft.
This remastered reissue by Frontiers Music has ‘cleaned & enhanced’ the whole thing, but the real interest comes with the awesome bonus disc. Features Mark Free’s performance at The Godz festival – very, very enjoyable – and a bunch of treasurable previously unreleased tracks.
A MUST HAVE

KING KOBRA – King Kobra III [digitally remastered Digipak reissue] (2018)

Out of print for almost 30 years, specialized label Metalville has finally officially reissued KING KOBRA III, approved and remastered by band leader Carmine Appice.
After the demise of the original line-up, remaining members Carmine Appice and David Michael-Phillips teamed up with Johnny Edwards, Jeff Northrup and Larry Hart, all 3 members of the Sacramento, CA band Northrup at the time.
Bassist Johnny Rod, who appeared on the first two albums as bassist, does not play here. However, he does contribute backing vocals, and also former Kiss’ Peter Criss among others.
“King Kobra III” was originally released in 1988 via small label New Renaissance Records, featuring new vocalist Johnny Edwards in the ‘hard to fit shoes’ of Mark / Marcie Free who quit the band a year before.
Edwards does a very good job, and there’s some killer, criminally underrated songs on this record in the vein of King Kobra’s first album, Quiet Riot, etc…
