Rock Candy Records has remastered two underrated albums by British cult rockers TRAPEZE that well worth to revisit. This is the self-titled “Trapeze” from 1975, not to be confused with the debut of the band with different line-up.
The British Midlands produced an extraordinary amount of heavy rock bands during the late 60s and early 70s. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin spring immediately to mind, but of serious note are Trapeze, the group that first introduced us to the extraordinary talent of vocalist and bassist Glenn Hughes.

Trapeze were initially one of the most promising and, later on, revered bands to have emerged from the UK during the Seventies. They blasted their way from obscurity to international acclaim, then, just as stardom beckoned, the carpet was pulled from under their feet when vocalist and frontman Glenn Hughes opted to leave the band, hitching his wagon to hard rock grandees Deep Purple.

Cherry Red Records / Purple Records just started a reissue campaign of TRAPEZE – the group formed by future Deep Purple Glenn Hughes and Phenomena’s Mel Galley – all remastered and with additional discs of bonus material.

Cherry Red / Pupple Records just started a reissue campaign of TRAPEZE – the group formed by future Deep Purple Glenn Hughes and Phenomena’s Mel Galley – albums, all remastered and with additional discs of bonus material.
Sown from the seeds of two Midlands bands, Finders Keepers, featuring Mel Galley (guitar/vocals), Dave Holland (drums) and Glenn Hughes (bass/vocals), plus the Montanas’ John Jones (vocals) and Terry Rowley (keyboards/guitar/flute), Trapeze were discovered by The Moody Blues, snapped up for their own Threshold Records label.
Produced by The Moody Blues’ John Lodge at Morgan Studios and Decca Studios in London, their self-titled debut LP leave a mark into the boiling Seventies scene.
