VICTORY – Temples Of Gold [Japanese edition] (1990) *HQ*

Born from the ashes of rockers Fargo, German melodic hard rock act VICTORY is without a doubt one of the greatest European acts from the genre. Especially during the second half of the Eighties to the early Nineties VICTORY put out a gem after gem, always under the command of the eximious guitarist Herman Frank.
Many of you have requested their earlier albums, as VICTORY’s music was not easy back in the day, and still are, with physical CD / vinyl pressings long time out of print, and the albums not available as digital download or streaming.
Now here’s VICTORY 1990’s ”Temples Of Gold”, indeed, a pot of gold. This Japanese edition is pressed on gold CD.
Yesterday we featured the band’s previous ’89 album, the essential ‘Culture Killed The Native’. Well, add ”Temples Of Gold” into the essential list; same line up / same producer Albert Boekholt – the result? Another amazing, incredible, astonishing killer record from VICTORY.
”Temples Of Gold” is in the same league of top acts like Treat, Pretty Maids, Accept, even Europe. There’s not a single weak track here, all are just hands-in-the-air arena rock from front to back…

VICTORY – Culture Killed The Native [Japanese CD Edition] (1989) *HQ*

A natural evolution from classic rock act Fargo, German melodic hard rockers VICTORY is without a doubt one of the greatest European acts from the genre. Especially during the second half of the Eighties to the early Nineties, VICTORY put out a gem after gem, always under the command of the eximious guitarist Herman Frank.

And that’s a crime, as VICTORY 1989’s opus ”Culture Killed The Native” should be part of everyone’s collection. This 4th VICTORY studio album put the band on the same level of European top acts like Treat, Pretty Maids, Accept, even Europe. There’s not a single weak track here, all are just hands-in-the-air arena rock from front to back.
And production is huge, punchy perfect. Handled by Albert Boekholt who previously helped to shape awesome LP’s like Treat’s ‘Dreamhunter’ or Magnum’s ‘Wings Of Heaven’, VICTORY’s “Culture Killed The Native” is just mesmerizing…

VICTORY – Hungry Hearts [Japanese pressing] (1987) *HQ*

German hard rockers VICTORY carved out a strong reputation in the 1980s with a string of excellent albums—records that remain difficult to track down on CD today, but are truly worth adding to any serious collection. As requested, here’s their third release from 1987: ”Hungry Hearts”, in its great sounding Japanese CD pressing.
VICTORY had two aces at the time: ex- Accept guitarist Herman Frank, and ex- Ted Nugent vocalist Charlie Huhn – you can’t go wrong with these guys. “Hungry Hearts” rocks.
Although still sounding hard n’ heavy, this record has a very commercial edge and a lot of these songs would have made great singles if properly promoted in America. The band’s other excellent guitarist Tommy Newton, had a hand in producing & mixing the record and would go on to make his name as a producer working with Helloween amongst others. But Newton was already a skilled twiddler, and “Hungry Hearts” sounds a million bucks.
This is guitar-driven, ’80s commercial hard rock at its finest—packed with powerful riffs, infectious hooks, and the unmistakable vocals of Charlie, all supported by consistently strong songwriting.
Standout tracks include You Run Away, Tough on Love, Look in the Mirror, and Feel the Fire, though the rest of the album holds up just as well.
Another excellent album from VICTORY, a band that never quite received the recognition it deserved…

VICTORY – Victory ’85 [YesterRock remastered reissue] (1985) ***HQ***

VICTORY was formed in Germany in 1984 from the remnants of the band Fargo. Bassist Peter Knorn, guitarists Tommy Newton & John Lockton, and drummer Bernie Van der Graaf had all previously worked together in that band.
After originally working with vocalist Pedro Schemm, former Gary Moore and Ted Nugent terrific American singer Charlie Huhn became the group’s front man.
Released in 1985, this VICTORY self-titled debut albu, “Victory” finds the band playing straight classic hard rock, no power ballads or metal hymns, just melodious rockers driven by sharp guitar riffs and powerful vocals, all produced with ‘that sound”: the mid-80s magic.
For many years a hard to find LP, it’s great to see “Victory” available again and for the first time on CD with a pristine remastered sound thanks to YesterRock specialists.
The album cover artwork generated some controversy, but the music packed inside dispel any doubt: Victory rocks.
Songs like ‘Chicks On Display’ and ‘On The Run’ are catchy, there’s great hooks on ‘The Hunter’, ‘Wreck Man’, and ‘Red Alert’…

VICTORY – Gods Of Tomorrow (2021)

German Eighties Hard Rock veterans VICTORY are releasing November 26 their first new album in 10 years – “Gods Of Tomorrow”. Formed in 1984, VICTORY is one of the most distinctive acts of its genre. VICTORY ranked alongside SCORPIONS, ACCEPT and HELLOWEEN as one of the most successful German bands, played countless arena and festival shows all over the world and released 10 records to date.
Their last album released in 2011 was the last record of the original line-up. But guitarist Herman Frank, who was also a longtime member of ACCEPT, never gave up on VICTORY and decided to continue the band.
Newborn, heavier and stronger than ever, “Gods Of Tomorrow” sees a revitalized VICTORY, driven by biting riffs and killer melodies…

Yeah… we’ve been waiting this for decades; the German Hard Rock cult classic “Don’t Get Mad… Get Even“, second album by hard rockers VICTORY, finally was remastered. With attention to not kill the original analog magic, YesterRock / Universal Music Germany done a really good work with the sonic treatment adding the necessary bite.
Victory’s second album “Don’t Get Mad…Get Even” was released in 1986 and instantly become a metal fan favorite. This is pure classic Hard Rock perfectly following the genre’s verse-chorus-verse winning formula: breaks, pre-choruses, bridges, the catchy chorus and leads are all exactly where they should be.
