HEART – Legendary FM Broadcasts: Portland ’89 [remastered] (2017)

HEART‘s concert in Portland, taped on 12th May of 1989 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, has been reissued in remastered form. Titled “Legendary FM Broadcasts; Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Portland, 12th May 1989“, the show was aired via the famous Westwood One FM as part of the King Biscuit Flower Hour which broadcast expanded its reach to more than 300 stations before it ceased weekly production of new shows in 1993. Reruns continued until 2007.

This recording is of special interest because at the time (1989) Heart were at their commercial peak, following their 1985 #1 self-titled comeback album and 1987’s #2 Bad Animals LP.

And incredibly, there’s not an official live recording of Heart’s second half of the ’80s songs performed during those years.
The album features hot performances of number 1 hits ‘Alone’ and ‘These Dreams’, successful singles ‘Never’, ‘Nothing At All’ and ‘What About Love’, as well as classic favorites ‘Barracuda’ or ‘Dreamboat Annie’, along with a killer cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock n’ Roll’ as finale.

The recording quality is very good, polished with a proper remastering, and showcasing Heart as a hard rocking, tight unit.
