The Lost Melodic Jewels Vol.1 : TANZEN – Piece By Peace +4 (1986-2018)
Now we have here in exclusive at 0dayrox a little pearl from Steelheart Memories Records ‘Lost Jewels Series’: produced by former APRIL WINE guitarist Gary Moffet and MINDSTORM producer Bill Szawlowski, back in 1986, “Piece By Peace” is the debut (and unique) album from Canadians TANZEN, featuring an incredible set of Classic ’80s AOR / Melodic Rock songs comparable to bands like SURGIN, early BON JOVI, or NIGHT RANGER (with the addition of some Van Halen-esque guitar and keyboards parts).
Including previously unreleased material and 2 newly recorded songs by the band, this is a released strictly limited to 500 copies, already out of print.
Steelheart Memories Records have been releasing really good lost records under the titles ‘The Lost UK Jewels” and ‘The Lost US Jewels”. However, Tanzen are Canadian, so this release starts a new series, “The Lost Melodic Jewels”, being this one Vol.1.
Originally released only on cassette-tape but professionally recorded, the album has been now lovingly restored from the original master tapes, with the addition of four newly recorded bonus tracks by the original line-up.
When you think of Canadian Rock music an the plethora of bands it gave us, us, I’m sure you immediately think of artists like Rush, Triumph, April Wine, or Headpins, Toronto and Lee Aaron to name just a few.
It was a rich and varied scene with a myriad of bands that rivaled their American cousins with ease.
The tale of Tanzen is no different to that of their U.K or American counterparts in that it saw them work their asses off with scant reward save for a few wonderful memories in later life
Whilst Tanzen went one further by actually recording one album, the usual tale of this mis-management saw their album cast aside to languish in obscurity for ever.
We’re sure you’ll agree after listening to this album that a travesty that was that a band this good should suffer the ignominy of being cruelly ignored.
They had a sound that was tailor made for the time, built for mass consumption and should have ruled the airwaves.
With a sound encompassing the bests bits of bands such as Surgin, Aviator, early FM or even Night Ranger coupled with a liberal dash of Van Halen ’86 style keyboards, Tanzen are surely one of Canada’s best kept secrets.
With their original master tape now lovingly restored with the addition of 4 newly recorded bonus tracks, the Tanzen story at least has a happy ending.
Including a 16-page full-color booklet with the recording process commented by band members plus rare photos, this is collectible to delight fans of that classy 1985-1986 Melodic Rock AOR sound.
