BLINDSTONE – The Seventh Cycle Of Eternity (2016)

Always commanded by talented axe-slinger Martin J. Andersen, BLINDSTONE are back with a new rocking album titled “The Seventh Cycle Of Eternity”, as you might suspect, their seventh effort.
This mighty Danish heavy-blues hard rock 3-piece is one of this blog’s favorites, and this fresh CD confirms the band’s powerful, bad-ass, killer guitar-rock excellence.

Martin J. Andersen is a true modern day guitar hero who is inspired by the authentic, old-schoo heavy guitar rock legends that we worship and admire ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Whitesnake.
Andersen embellishes these influences and creates his own brand of impressive original guitar riffage/mojo that lands rock solid on serious six-string ground.
Blindstone also features the low-down, heavy, bottom kool of Jesper Bunk on Bass, who also wrote several tracks and last but not least we find the debut of new band member Sigurd Jøhnk-Jensen delivering some serious drum playing. Both are excellent players who complete and nail down the rock solid to the core heavy Blindstone power trio groove.

“The Seventh Cycle Of Eternity” is a piece of remarkable variety and maturity which never loses sight of the band’s classic rock roots. Proceedings start with a bang, the rocking “Dead Man’s Blues” given one mighty turbo charge Anderson’s blistering guitar work.
“Rolling” keeps the pedal to the metal whilst other highlights include “Rebel In Black”, the slow burning “Looking Back”, and a amazing take on the Jimi Hendrix penned, “Power Of Soul”.
Then on the instrumental “By The Suns Of Warvan, You Shall Be Avenged” the trio exhibit their air tight chemistry and flex their musical prowess.

What sets Blindstone apart from the crowd is that while they are faithful to genre they have the ability to mix it up a bit with fresh arrangements resulting into very strong songs, which no doubt can be extended for the odd jam but on this record they don’t overstay their welcome.
Blindstone have won over a loyal fan base with the sheer power and class of their previous releases. “The Seventh Cycle Of Eternity” will illuminate more legions of classic rock fans with its amazing quality.
