I think the band’s name GLAMORY, and the album’s title “Glam Over” pretty sums up what we are dealing here: ’80s US hard rock from the glam Sunset Strip era. But these guys are from France, and “Glam Over” has just been released by 7Hard Records.

Glamory put some copies out by themselves at the end of past year, but now with the German label behind “Glam Over” get distribution all over Europe and beyond. I you love this musical genre and never heard anything by the band, you are in for a real treat with this CD.
Inspired by the late ’80s US Californian scene, Glamory’s sound is pretty unique with a hint of Van Halen mixed with new glam and AOR touch. The band is tight with great vocals and some breathtaking solos for the air guitar enthusiasts.

After the intro ‘Into the G’, a short instrumental, ‘Night Time Mirage’ starts with guitar chops leading into a David Lee Roth-esque vocals from frontman lban Sibilia. As he talks us into the chorus which will have you singing along in a heartbeat. There’s a great little guitar solo that doesn’t over stretch the mark keeping it all nice and tight with the rhythm section.
‘Weirderland’ rocks with Van Halen-esque guitar riffs and smooth bass line, the ‘Dancer in Paradise’ turn things much more melodic rock with very nice harmony vocals by all band members.

‘Hell Yeah!’ is a stadium anthem akin Trixter, a great feel good sing-along track with yet another great solo. On ‘Inside out’ we have more great vocals mixed with tight bass and drums, all held together with riffs aplenty.
‘Divine Bullshit’, despite the title, it’s a smooth and mellow tune in a midtempo pace with a sweet bluesy solo. ‘Shitty Belly‘ returns to glam, a sleazy slice of rock and roll, with sleazy lyrics and even sleazier guitar soundtrack that knocks the wind right outta your system.

GLAMORY - Glam Over (2016) inside

‘Whirlwind’ is perhaps the more modern song on the album providing variation, before closer ‘The Source’ returns to a more mellow territory. This is a slow paced little gem with a really good vocal work and guitar riffs glued together with the intense bass & drums and a sleazy blues solo that just melts into the track.

“Glam Over” is a really good 10-track collection of songs inspired by the classic US glam / hard rock era but with a very personal style and solid production by Glamory.
It rocks, has lots of melodies / harmony vocals, hot riffs and catchy choruses. Do you need more?
