Sometimes dreams really do come true and for “FLY TO THE SUN” composer Ray Roehner, recording artist and founder of Universe Records, his dream to bring his music to the global stage has come to fruition. This new eclectic album project crosses over into several musical genres, including prog rock, progressive pop, melodic rock, art rock, classic rock and more.
Featuring superb world famous, professional musicians the likes of Ray himself on lead vocals, Jennifer Batten (Jeff Beck, Michael Jackson – lead guitar); Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, Winery Dogs – bass guitar); Andrew Giddings (Jethro Tull, Animals – keyboards and percussion); Greg Bissonette (Ringo Starr, ELO, BeeGees – drums); Joe Deninzon (Kansas – violin), these musicians created a musical journey of impeccable musicianship; a journey infused with the passion and beauty each song on the CD generates.
For Ray, it’s the culmination of a lifetime of devotion to classic rock music.
Ray has always been a staunch follower of classic rock music icons like Jethro Tull, Yes, Pink Floyd, Queen, and other legends that pushed the envelope into uncharted musical territory and had a huge impact on his life.
Assembling this band of world class musicians to join him, Ray decided to produce music that will have a positive impact on listeners, hoping to help them feel good at a time in history when “feel good” songs are sorely needed.
Performing with numerous groups through the years enabled him to connect with the key players in his ‘Fly To The Sun’ band project.
Producer Andrew Giddings (16-year keyboardist / producer with Jethro Tull) has brought a wealth of expertise, arrangement experience, and keyboard excellence into the project. The music on ‘Fly To The Sun’ are appealing to a wide range of musical tastes, with upbeat musical structure and positive lyrical content.
The overall sound brings to mind ’80s productions from light proggy melodic bands focused on polished arrangements. It’s a very nice listen.
