DIAMOND HEAD – Canterbury [Japan remaster SHM-CD +3] HQ

As requested, here’s the out of print Japanese remastered release of DIAMOND HEAD‘s 1983’s album ”Canterbury”, as part of the reissue series ‘My Generation, My Music – Back To The Rock Years 1983-1987’ pressed on SHM-CD including 3 bonus tracks, now out of print. Originally, ”Canterbury” was only released on CD in Japan making it a highly collectible item.
Here, as happened with many NWOBHM acts, DIAMOND HEAD opted for a more commercial sound with a melodic hard rock groove and some AOR touches, including keyboards & synths. The band not only was looking for mainstream success, but as an attempt to show that they could write more than just ‘metal’ songs…

DIAMOND HEAD – Borrowed Time +7 [Japan HR-HM 1000 reissue series] HQ

Universal Music Japan started some time ago a welcomed campaign: the reissue of long time out of print albums from their catalog titled ‘HR/HM 1000‘, that meaning Hard Rock / Heavy Metal at the price of 1000 Yen = about 9 USD.
“Borrowed Time” is DIAMOND HEAD‘s first major album for to MCA Records, and where they added a strong melodic sense to their music and a hard rock groove. One of our favorite albums from the early 80 British scene. This HR-HM 1000 reissue is the one to get, it uses the last remaster and it was sold at very affordable price. It’s out of print now, but you can get some copies on auction sites.
“Borrowed Time” easily contains some of Diamond Head’s best moments, and despite the fact that the band display a more commercial, easy to the ear sound, each member is at the top of his game, and the music sounds amazing…

DIAMOND HEAD – Lightning To The Nations 2020

DIAMOND HEAD‘s first album — aka the ‘White Album’ or ‘Lightning to the Nations’ — is somewhat like the Ark of the Covenant of classic traditional metal. By unlocking its New Wave of British Heavy Metal secrets, one will discover most all the connecting points between the genre’s ’70s originators and the ensuing ’80s hordes — arguably even more so than via IRON MAIDEN.
And, like Maiden’s brilliantly roughshod eponymous debut of 1980, Diamond Head’s masterpiece was anything but a marvel of recording technology, but rather a living, breathing, electrifying studio performance financed by the band itself on a shoestring budget
Well, this month founder and guitarist, Brian Tatler returns with DIAMOND HEAD 2.0 for a 40th anniversary re-recording of this iconic album: “Lightning To The Nations 2020”, including covers of famous songs / bands.
And the results are simply Great

VA – Lightning To The Nations; NWOBHM 25th Anniversary Collection (Disc 2)

The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (N.W.O.B.H.M.) was a musical movement that somehow saved – or revitalized if you want – the languishing metal / hard rock scene at the end of the Seventies, and cemented the ’80s sound for the genre during the entire decade. The excellent 3-CD box “Lightnin’ To The Nations: NWOBHM 25th Anniversary Collection” comprises...
