WILD HORSES – Stand Your Ground [Rock Candy remastered +7]

More requests on the go with both WILD HORSES albums ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ by Rock Candy Records, both including a bunch of previously unreleased tracks included as bonus.
After the promising self-titled debut, Wild Horses went back into the studio next year to record their second album, “Stand Your Ground“.
Launched as a veritable super group featuring ex Rainbow bassist Jimmy Bain and former Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Roberston, Wild Horses were trumpeted by the music community as the next big thing.
Indeed, their self titled debut album turned a great number of heads and confounded those who dismissed the toxic twins as mere opportunists looking to cash in on their notoriety…

TEAZE – One Night Stands [Rock Candy Remastered +1]

Another request to complete collections arrived to 0dayrox in the form of “One Night Stands“, the most successful album from Canadians TEAZE brilliantly remastered by Rock Candy Records including a bonus track.
Despite their origin, Teaze’s sound always was quite ‘American’ often compared with the likes of Aerosmith, Angel and Cheap Trick. Born in the mid-Seventies, the band made an immediate impact in, of all places, Japan, where their explosive riffs, pop-tastic hooks, colourful glad rags and no holds barred on-stage energy immediately elevated them to stardom.
Buoyed by this success, the band continued to consolidate their Canadian presence before scoring a much coveted Stateside deal with Capitol Records.

STREETHEART – Drugstore Dancer [Rock Candy remaster]

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy releases to complete collections, and here’s the delicious ”Drugstore Dancer” by STREETHEART, fully remastered from original tapes.
Whilst they’re probably one of the lesser known Canadian bands of the ’70s and ’80s, Winnipeg-based STREETHEART had a string of gold & platinum records in their homeland, charting with all six of their studio albums, a double live offering and a posthumous collection of outtakes, as well as numerous hit singles.
However, as far as most non-Canadians are concerned their claims to fame will be that founding guitarist Paul Dean and drummer Matt Frenette went on to form Loverboy and a later line-up originally wrote and recorded Hardline’s signature tune ‘Hot Cherie’ back in 1982, strangely opting not to include it on the album it was recorded for.
Originally issued in 1980, “Drugstore Dancer” was Streetheart’s fourth album and the first with the AORish sound that would made Canadian bands famous during the decade…

REO SPEEDWAGON – Wheels Are Turnin’ [Rock Candy remastered]

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy releases to complete collections, and here’s one you need in your collection.
REO SPEEDWAGON detonated the charts with their 1980’s ten million selling LP ‘Hi Infidelity’, but the follow up album ‘Good Trouble’ only sold two million copies and failed to produce a top-10 ten hit. Any band would have killed for a performance like that, but REO Speedwagon is an act always aiming for more.
For the next record, the band refocused their skills to produce another killer record and the result was “Wheels Are Turnin’“, reissued by Rock Candy Records in a pristine ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ form.
Kevin Cronin and Co. called some external connoisseurs to help not only in the songwriting, but also collaborating in the ‘concept’ and sound. Among the big cats involved in the craft of the album we find AOR magician Tom Kelly (Toto, Van Stephenson, Survivor, et all) who co-wrote some songs and did backing vocals, Richard Page (Mr. Mister, Pages), Tommy Funderburk (Airplay) and many more, some of them un-credited.
The results were spectacular. “Wheels Are Turnin`”, originally issued in 1984, was an unqualified success…

DIRTY LOOKS – Turn Of The Screw [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] (2021) *only at 0dayrox*

Without a doubt, alongside their major label debut ‘Cool From the Wire’, DIRTY LOOKS‘ second album “Turn Of The Screw” finds the band at their finest moment. Rock Candy records did the magic with ‘Dirty Looks’ some years ago, now it’s time for 1989’s “Turn Of The Screw” to be ‘remastered & reloaded‘ in full force.
Unknowingly, with ‘Cool From the Wire’ DIRTY LOOKS had crafted one of the era’s greatest albums that although registering with fans and some well-informed critics strangely failed to set the world on fire. Atlantic records however were not disheartened and signalled the go ahead for a follow-up album.
Issued in 1989 and titled ‘Turn Of The Screw’, the band moved on to a new producer in John Jansen (Billy Squier, Britny Fox) and set about recording in New York at the world-renowned Power Station studios.
The result is a riff-rock packed album with some great and catchy tunes such as ‘Take What Ya Get’, ‘Slammin To The Big Beat’, the title track and anthem ‘Nobody Rides For Free’. It’s another enormous tribute to simple but effective loud and proud hard rock, this time with a much more polished production and that 1989’s glare. Our DIRTY LOOKS favorite album.

CIRCUS OF POWER – Vices [Rock Candy remastered +5] *only at 0dayrox*

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy releases to complete collections, and the few days ago we featured the CIRCUS OF POWER self-titled album reissue. Now we have in exclusive their pretty hard to find ‘remastered & reloaded‘ version of the band’s second album “Vices”, including 5 bonus tracks.
Circus Of Power debut album, although failing to set the charts on fire, had blown the proverbial roof off with its brazen mix of low-slung guitar worship and a surly attitude to rival the best of West Coast rivals Guns ‘N’ Roses.
Produced, like the debut album, by Daniel Rey and titled ”Vices” (for obvious reasons), Circus Of Power’s sophomore release is finely hewn from a similar block of tough granite. Big riffs peppered with throat ripping vocals atop huge blasts of guitar are the order of the day, all expertly inserted into some of the most combustible songs the band ever penned…

MOTT (The Hoople) – Shouting & Pointing [Rock Candy remastered]

There is no doubt that MOTT (The Hoople) were one of the most influential British rock bands of the ’70s. Just to name one, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott has a cover band honoring Mott and his other project Down ‘n’ Outz is inspired in Mott The Hoople’s sound.
Rock Candy Records has remastered a couple of MOTT albums, a great opportunity to re-discover this influential band. One of these is ”Shouting & Pointing”, one of our favorites.
When Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson quit Mott The Hoople in late 1974, many thought that the band would become just another fondly remembered and well respected entry in the history of rock. Few would have gambled on the remaining band members rising up, dusting themselves down and getting back in the ring ready to fight another day.
Re-tooled under the newly abbreviated moniker of ‘Mott’, the band recruited guitarist Ray Major and super talented yet unknown vocalist Nigel Benjamin…

CIRCUS OF POWER – Circus Of Power [Rock Candy Remastered +5]

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy releases to complete collections, and here’s one that rocks great, CIRCUS OF POWER‘s self titled album fully remastered & reloaded including bonus tracks.
Back in the 80s the Los Angeles rock scene cultivated spandex, glam and big, huge hair, whilst in New York a far grittier aesthetic was being honed; one that would promote the hard working, hard living ethos of an inner city blighted by forgotten neighbourhoods. The perfect backdrop, in fact, for the low-down high volume rock ‘n roll of no-frills minimalists such as Raging Slab, Smashed Gladys, and… Circus Of Power.
COP, as they were commonly known amongst friends and fans, lived life on the edge; a trail blazing sound. Spotted by esteemed NYC-based producer Daniel Rey, they were snapped up, together with Raging Slab, by the giant RCA label, creating one of the strongest debut hard rock albums of the era.
Raw, edgy and extremely dangerous Circus Of Power’s debut album, originally released in 1989, is a seething guitar-fuelled temper tantrum that remains as powerful today as it was when first released…

MOTT (The Hoople) ‎- Drive On [Rock Candy remastered +1] HQ *only at 0dayrox*

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy releases to complete collections, and here’s one quite hard to find – almost out of print, not listed anymore – the remastered & reloaded reissue of MOTT (The Hoople)Drive On“, including a bonus track.
Having gone from a struggling club band to wider international success, it came as something of a shock when leader Ian Hunter pulled the band apart by quitting in late 1974, taking flamboyant guitarist Mick Ronson with him to peruse a solo career. For the other members of Mott The Hoople this could have spelt disaster but fortunately their resolve and determination overcame all obstacles resolving to carry on with a revised line up.
Enlisting new guitarist Ray Major and unknown vocalist Nigel Benjamin, the band reconvened, still signed to CBS, but under the new handle of ‘Mott’.
It was this line-up (also featuring former MTH stalwarts Pete Overend Watts, Dale Buffin Griffin and Morgan Fisher) that recorded ”Drive On”, one of the year’s most surprising and exciting albums. Although it exploring some of the more grandiose musical themes touched on by latter day MTH, the album is also a hot-bed of hard rocking, allowing the extraordinary vocals of Benjamin to take centre stage.

THE REGGIE KNIGHTON BAND – st [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] HQ

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy releases to complete collections, and here’s one of never featured here, the self-titled, one and only album from THE REGGIE KNIGHTON BAND fully remastered & reloaded.
Reggie Knighton had played guitar with the American soft-rock group The Grass Roots, and also played in the band of former Lovin’ Spoonful mainman John Sebastian in the mid -70’s. He succeeded in getting a record deal with CBS / Columbia records in 1977, and released this excellent, self-titled rocking debut album.
Produced by Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars, Journey) the sound is enormous incorporating John Bonham style drumming, razor-sharp guitar work and flamboyant backing vocals in the mould of classic Queen. That this album rocks hard is a revelation in itself…

STEPSON – Stepson [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] HQ / only at 0dayrox

Many of you have been asking for some old Rock Candy released to complete collections, and here’s one of the rarest, for the first time on CD of “Stepson“, the cult LP from American rockers STEPSON. This ‘remastered & reloaded‘ CD is out of print now, hence a collector’s item.
Based in Los Angeles amidst a backdrop of twee singer songwriters and west coast folk rock nonsense, Stepson must have looked and sounded about as out of place as Adele fronting Black Sabbath. If its power chords and rampaging riffs that float your boat then make sure you brace yourself for the perfect storm.
This is earthy early Seventies ball-busting hard rock, and the music into this album released in 1974 is outrageous for its time, totally in-your-face and a giant F-U to radio station programmers.
There was a private Swedish limited edition CD previously, but this Rock Candy remaster blows that out of the water.

GARY WRIGHT – The Dream Weaver [Rock Candy Remastered]

Rock Candy Records has remastered the two best albums by GARY WRIGHT, the American musician known for his role in helping establish the synthesizer as a leading instrument in rock & pop music. Now it’s time for the other; “The Dream Weaver“, Gary Wright’s third (and most successful) album, including as session musicians true legends in this matter such as David Foster, Jim Keltner (Toto, Pink Floyd) and Andy Newmark (Eric Clapton).
“The Dream Weaver” was said by Gary Wright to be the first-ever all-synthesizer / keyboard album. Though there were many all-synthesizer LPs before this, none used this rock&pop ‘song format’ that would define many music genres in years to come.
The only track to include any guitar is ‘Power of Love’, featuring Wright’s Warner Bros. labelmate Ronnie Montrose on electric guitar. However, many of the keyboard riffs on the album sound, indeed, like an electric guitar.
All very revolutionary and new at the time, “The Dream Weaver” hasn’t lost any of its magic over time. Even more with this Rock Candy remaster, honoring…

GARY WRIGHT – The Light Of Smiles [Rock Candy Remastered]

As requested, here we have the two best albums by GARY WRIGHT remastered & reloaded by Rock Candy Records. Wright is the American musician known for his role in helping establish the synthesizer as a leading instrument in rock & pop music. “The Light Of Smiles” is Gary Wright’s fourth album, including as session musicians true legends in this matter such as David Foster, Jay Graydon and Steve Porcaro.
Gary Wright’s place in musical history was undoubtedly secured by the huge international hit single ‘Dream Weaver’, a recording that still has an afterlife to this day. But that wasn’t the first time Wright had generated interest in his musical career.
Back in the late ’60s this New Jersey born musician relocated to the UK and, on the encouragement of Island Records boss Chris Blackwell, joined forces with Spooky Tooth, one of the most respected acts of the time…

D’MOLLS – D’Molls [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded]

Rock Candy Records has an insatiable appetite for unearthing hard rock / glam bands from the late Eighties, and the remastered reissue of D’MOLLS first album “D’Molls” results one of the most welcomed lately, because this pretty unknown US act deserve to be listened by all fans of the genre.
D’MOLLS was a very special band that caught pretty much attention for not only their rough and tumble music, but also for their extreme look. They sported hair big enough to hide the Empire State building inside, pants so tight that their legs looked like pipe cleaners and enough mascara and lipstick to supply a beauty pageant.
“D’Molls” has “somethin” you can’t explain into words, you need to listen to it and you’ll get it. The album was very well produced back in the day, and with this crisp Rock Candy remaster it sounds even better.

STONE FURY – Burns Like A Star [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded]

Finally one of the most overlooked hard rock albums from the ’80s, STONE FURY‘s debut “Burns Like A Star“, it’s being available outside Japan in remastered form courtesy of Rock Candy Records.
Stone Fury was formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by vocalist Lenny Wolf, later known for being the founder of platinum sellers Kingdom Come. The band was essentially a collaboration between Wolf – born in Germany who moved to L.A. to become a rockstar – and super talented guitarist Bruce Gowdy (Unruly Child, Fergie Frederiksen, etc).
After a recording demo, MCA Records offered a recording contract, but as band. So Stone Fury become a full-on combo completed with drummer Jody Cortez (Cinderella) and bassist Rick Wilson (Danny Wilde Band).
Produced by renowned Andy Johns – who worked on classic albums by Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen and many others – Stone Fury’s debut “Burns Like A Star” appeared in 1984.
