FIONA – Heart Like A Gun [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] *HQ*

Here comes another gem remastered by Rock Candy Records; “Heart Like A Gun” by FIONA. Originally issued in 1989, the album exudes class and quality, a tremendous example of rugged yet melodic hard rock, with a polished and accessible sheen.
You can take the girl out of the East Coast but you can’t take the East Coast out of the girl. For Fiona’s third album the diminutive singer was transported lock, stock and barrel to Los Angeles in an effort to give her a creative makeover.
It was a move that shaped her label’s (Atlantic Records) deep rooted belief in her potential, after recording two albums of top drawer melodic rock that indicated she was on the verge of a major breakthrough.
“Heart Like A Gun” was primarily produced by studio wizard Keith Olsen, a man who’d notched up several platinum plus selling albums from a string of artists, including Loverboy, Whitesnake and Journey. The belief was that Olsen’s magic touch…

BUCK DHARMA – Flat Out [Rock Candy collector’s edition]

Blue Oyster Cult’s founder member, songwriter and lead guitarist Donald BUCK DHARMA Roeser released back in the ’80s his first solo LP “Flat Out“, for many years very hard to find. Rock Candy Records made the album available again, now with a 24-bit remastering treatment from original source tapes.
During BOC’s very successful career, Buck Dharma started to accumulate a back-log of quality songs that simply were not BOC-compatible. Already known as the member of the band with the softer and melodic side, many of his contributions to BOC tended to be less abrasive and more melodically suited to radio.
Even when Roeser first demoed ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ to the band, his bandmates thought ‘Reaper’ was too soft for BOC. Rumor has it that either lead singer-guitarist Eric Bloom or drummer Albert Bouchard threatened to quit if ‘Reaper’ was included on their next album ‘Agents Of Fortune’ (the song become the most famous BOC’s single ever).
With “Flat Out” Dharma was able to showcase his more personal musical side without the hard rock / metal expectation associated with Blue Oyster Cult…

DOC HOLLIDAY – Doc Holliday [Rock Candy remastered +2]

Many of you asked for Rock Candy Records reissues to complete collections, and here’s the first two DOC HOLLIDAY albums ‘remastered & reloaded‘, each with 2 bonus tracks. Well, both are must have classics… let start with the self-titled “Doc Holliday“.
Originally known as Roundhouse, vocalist Bruce Brookshire and his bandmates had to switch to Doc Holliday when they found out that another band was already operating under the same moniker.
A first, self-titled album was recorded in Orlando (Florida) and released through A&M in 1981. Under the guidance of renowned English recording engineer and record producer Tom Allom (Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, KIX) the result was a blast…

DOC HOLLIDAY – Doc Holliday Rides Again… [Rock Candy remaster +2]

Many of you asked for Rock Candy Records reissues to complete collections, and here’s the first two DOC HOLLIDAY albums ‘remastered & reloaded‘, each with 2 bonus tracks. Well, both are must have bluesy hard rock cult classics…
Doc Holliday Rides Again…” is the title of their second album. For this sophomore effort, stellar producer Tom Allom (Def Leppard, Y&T) was invited once again. Unfortunately the recordings were turned down by Doc Holliday’s label co-owner, and David Anderle (Frank Zappa, The Doors) was brought in to take care of things.
Together with engineer Andy de Gahnal, Anderle gave the album a stripped-down, lively feel.
The result is surely one of the best Southern Rock albums of all times on par with Doc Holliday’s self-titled debut, featuring such great tracks as “Southern Man”, “Hot Rod” and “Lonesome Guitar”…

FRANK MARINO – Juggernaut [Rock Candy remastered]

As requested, here’s the Rock Candy Records ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ reissue of 4 of the most celebrated FRANK MARINO And Mahogany Rush albums. . The explosive “Juggernaut” is the second Frank Marino album solely under his name, and the last of the series.
By the beginning of the ’80s Frank Marino was perceived by the music business, and the majority of his fans, as a red-hot guitar player capable of laying down riffs and solos like they were going out of fashion.
However, that overall impression belied his musical depth as a musician with a deep understanding of composition and arrangement. For Frank, despite his reputation for endless soloing, the goal was always about crafting songs that had meaning and weight.

FRANK MARINO & MAHOGANY RUSH – What’s Next [Rock Candy remastered]

Rock Candy Records have just ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ four of the most celebrated FRANK MARINO & MAHOGANY RUSH albums.. “What’s Next” is one of my favorites from this Canadian band that had great success in the USA touring with bands such as Aerosmith, Ted Nugent and Heart.
The band is perhaps best known for Marino’s soaring lead guitar which bears a strong resemblance to the playing of Jimi Hendrix. Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush bluesy hard rock is the definition of the genre from the late ’70 / early ’80s, with Marino being acknowledged as one of the best and most underrated guitarists of the era.
“What’s Next” was Frank Marino & Co seventh studio album in almost as many years, an accomplishment made even more impressive by the amount of live work that he had stashed under his belt. Marino had become a notorious road dog, playing everywhere and anywhere, helping to establish him as one of the great showmen of the era.

FRANK MARINO – The Power Of Rock And Roll [Rock Candy remastered]

As requested, here’s the Rock Candy Records ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ reissue of 4 of the most celebrated FRANK MARINO And Mahogany Rush albums. “The Power Of Rock And Roll” is the first Frank Marino album solely under his name, and as its title suggests, rocks with true power.
Frank Marino had been developing a solid reputation throughout the Seventies as the figurehead of his band Mahogany Rush, an impressive power trio rooted in electric heavy blues that gave Frank a platform to showcase his tremendous guitar prowess, all set within a wide screen musical landscape.
In a bold move, for this, his eighth studio album, he was encouraged to drop the Mahogany Rush handle altogether and set sail purely under his own name. It was a…

FRANK MARINO & MAHOGANY RUSH – Live [Rock Candy remastered +2]

As requested, here’s the Rock Candy Records ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ reissue of 4 of the most celebrated FRANK MARINO And Mahogany Rush albums. The hot n’ heavy “Live” from this Canadian band is considered one of the greatest live albums in Rock history, consistently rewarding and is enthusiastically recommended to hard rockers and metalheads of all time.
This fresh remastered reissue include 2 bonus tracks.
The commonly held belief about Frank Marino, leader of Mahogany Rush, is that he was motivated by the spirit of Jimi Hendrix. Of course this was a misquote taken from an early interview which persisted throughout his career and, to a degree, still…

THE OUTLAWS – Soldiers Of Fortune [Rock Candy remastered]

As requested, here’s the Rock Candy Records Remastered & Reloaded release of THE OUTLAWS 1985’s album “Soldiers Of Fortune“, the band’s most AORish album ever, with that mid-Eighties radio friendly sound.
After 3 years on hiatus, in 1985 the band reunited around the core components of Hughie Thomason and Henry Paul who returned to the group, to sign with Spencer Proffer / Pasha Records, a record label exploding with the success of a revitalised Quiet Riot.
Produced by Randy Bishop (Prophet, Kick Axe) and recorded in Los Angeles, “Soldiers Of Fortune” explores the heart of the Southern rock style, injecting it with a well executed dose of contemporary melodic hard rock bravado.
Yes, it was 1985, and you gotta sound ‘glossy’, no matter the genre. Then, The Outlaws’ bluesy origins are enhanced here by cleaner guitars, more melodic vocals / harmonies, keyboards and typically mid-80s ‘big’ drums…

THE OUTLAWS – Playin’ To Win [Rock Candy remastered]

As requested, here’s the Rock Candy Records Remastered & Reloaded release of THE OUTLAWS “Playin’ To Win” album. This is the band’s fourth LP and the first without guitarist and singer / songwriter Henry Paul, who left to form his own band.
Following a career defining double live album, the band made preparations for their fourth studio LP, one that would not only showcase their roots but also pave the way for the future. The Outlaws wanted a more ‘rocking’ approach, still blues based, but with increased punch and loud guitars.
To do this they tapped into a new producer, a young Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange, then just another rising star behind the tape-desk. Recognizing a creative genius, the band set about recording “Playing To Win”in Georgia with Lange at the helm and Rodney Mills (.38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd) in the engineer’s seat. This was to prove a highly potent combination.
Outlaw’s “Playin’ To Win” showcased a band in search of something fresh but not crazy enough to abandon their heritage. As you might expect, the focus with Mutt Lange in the driving seat was on songs and melody, showcasing a style that sounded big, beefy and highly commercial…

LOVERBOY – Wildside [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] (2022) HQ *Exclusive*

There’s no arguing that LOVERBOY were one of Canada’s most successful exports during the ’80s, racking up a string of platinum albums at home and the USA and having several hit singles as well. With four huge selling albums under their belt the band refocused their attention by returning to Vancouver’s Little Mountain Studios to cut Wildside, utilizing the original production team of Bruce Fairbairn, with engineers Bob Rock and Mike Fraser.
For their fifth album “Wildside“, just remastered & reloaded by Rock Candy Records, LOVERBOY once again fully opened up to the opportunity to work with outside songwriters, including names like Bryan Adams that had graced previous tracks, and several new contributors: notably Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. There were less famous names on the selection as well such as Todd Cerney, Gerald O’Brien and Alfie Zappacosta (all well known amongst the melodic rock cognoscenti).
This RC remaster sounds full, powerful, and while there’s misprint – track #11 “Don’t Keep Me In The Dark” not mentioned / listed on the back inlay or in the credits – it is included into the CD.

RICK SPRINGFIELD – TAO [Rock Candy Remastered] HQ full

Previously known for his immediate, radio-ready melodic rock tunes, RICK SPRINGFIELD changed the general approach of his music delivery with the mid-Eighties record “TAO“. With a production design, arrangements and studio tricks technically far beyond its year, the album was unleashed to the world at the end of 1985.
It was a stellar departure from anything Rick had ever tried before: elaborated Hi-tech AOR melodies with a complex musical background, a heavy mix of processed guitars, synthesizers, vocal effects, sampling and drum machines.
This Rock Candy Records remastered reissue takes advantage of that huge multi-track glossy original production and gave the album a pristine remastering treatment. As result we hear new layers of sound.
“There is a lot going on, you can really hear it. We covered it with a lot of guitar and bass. TAO is still my favorite album” said Springfield. And although we at 0dayrox love his previous records, “TAO” is our favorite too.
This one has all we love from the ’80s; soaring vocals, multi-tracked guitar parts, big compressed drums, ‘that’ reverb and keyboards galore…

SPEEDWAY BLVD. – Speedway Boulevard [Rock Candy remaster] out of print

Whichever way you shake a stick at it, the lone album from studio creation SPEEDWAY BLVD. is arguably one of the greatest rocking albums from the beginning of the ’80s. Fortunately “Speedway Boulevard” received a pristine remaster treatment by Rock Candy Records – now out of print.
Speedway Blvd were a New York based act assembled by famed bubblegum impresarios Kasenetz and Katz. Looking to capitalize on the booming arena rock sensation that was sweeping the nation at the dawn of the glorious decade, the duo put Speedway Blvd together strictly as a studio project.
The production duo gathered a cream of New York musicians together to form the band focused on strong melodies and the killer voice of vocalist Roy Herring Jr. The unit also included future Balance bassist Dennis Feldman and Dream Theater keyboard player Jordan Rudess…

CHANNEL – Channel [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] HQ

This is a nice request; the one and only, self-titled album by CHANNEL, ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ by Rock Candy Records and released on CD for the very first time.
Founded in the early ’80s by vocalist Robert Fleischman, a man who, at one time, had been plucked out of obscurity to join AOR super gods Journey, the band featured a bevy of heavy hitters from the L.A. session world including guitarist Tony Berg (Jay Gruska, Marc Jordan), drummer Gary Ferguson (Eddie Money, Glenn Hughes) and bassist Trey Thompson.
After the short stint with Journey, Fleischman sung in different bands and released an unsuccessful solo album, so decided to put together Channel. There was several line-up changes, then in 1983 Epic Records signed the band.
Released in 1984, “Channel” was one of the first records introducing into the US market a sub-genre known as High-Tech AOR…

WILD HORSES – Wild Horses [Rock Candy remastered +8]

More requests on the go with the two WILD HORSES albums ‘Remastered & Reloaded‘ by Rock Candy Records, both including a bunch of previously unreleased tracks included as bonus. Here’s their self-titled “Wild Horses” plus 8 extras.
Rainbow and Thin Lizzy were two of the biggest names in rock during the late ’70s so when Rainbow dispensed with the services of bassist Jimmy Bain, and Thin Lizzy dismissed guitarist Brian Robertson it was almost inevitable that the two would join forces to create a new powerhouse rock group.
Indeed, with Bain and Robertson sharing a London flat together the musical combination was quickly cemented going under the forceful moniker of Wild Horses. The band’s self-titled debut “Wild Horses” still sounds exciting and fresh today, a testimony to the talent involved. This Rock Candy remaster sounds really good and includes…
