LOVERBOY – Wildside [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] (2022) HQ *Exclusive*

There’s no arguing that LOVERBOY were one of Canada’s most successful exports during the ’80s, racking up a string of platinum albums at home and the USA and having several hit singles as well. With four huge selling albums under their belt the band refocused their attention by returning to Vancouver’s Little Mountain Studios to cut Wildside, utilizing the original production team of Bruce Fairbairn, with engineers Bob Rock and Mike Fraser.
For their fifth album “Wildside“, just remastered & reloaded by Rock Candy Records, LOVERBOY once again fully opened up to the opportunity to work with outside songwriters, including names like Bryan Adams that had graced previous tracks, and several new contributors: notably Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. There were less famous names on the selection as well such as Todd Cerney, Gerald O’Brien and Alfie Zappacosta (all well known amongst the melodic rock cognoscenti).
This RC remaster sounds full, powerful, and while there’s misprint – track #11 “Don’t Keep Me In The Dark” not mentioned / listed on the back inlay or in the credits – it is included into the CD.

LOVERBOY – Lovin’ Every Minute Of It [Rock Candy remastered & reloaded] (2021) HQ *0dayrox Exclusive*

Continuing their reissue of essential LOVERBOY ’80s albums, Rock Candy Records disd their remastered & reloaded treatment to ”Lovin’ Every Minute Of It”. This well respected five piece Canadian band had struck gold with their debut release in both their home country and the USA, giving them a foothold that showed no signs of eroding.
It was quite a Cinderella story made even more powerful by the fact the band maintained the same line-up, but this time switching from their original studio team to British producer ‘Colonel’ Tom Allom (Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Krokus) still though opting to record in Vancouver at Little Mountain studio.
Paying meticulous attention to detail and choice of material, they had numerous well known contributions including Bryan Adams & Jim Vallance, Jonathan Cain, and, not least of all, Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange who penned the title track, a standout song that kept their commercial appeal right at the front of the public’s interest.
This Rock Candy remaster is the best ever done on this wonderful album, ‘airy’, with all instruments clearly heard…

LOVERBOY – Keep It Up [Rock Candy remastered] (2021) HQ *0dayrox Exclusive*

After the reissue of LOVERBOY‘s first two albums, Rock Candy Records continue with their fresh remastered version of the Canadians third effort: “Keep It Up“. Despite “Keep It Up” spawned 4 hit singles and went platinum, this is one of the less known Loverboy albums and yes, one of their best. Not only in the songwriting department (with the help of guru Bruce Fairbairn, producing as well), but also in its purest first half of the ’80s AOR sound.
“Keep It Up” continued in the same vein as previous recordings, mixing a potent blend of melodic rock, sophisticated production and contemporary sounds that were just right for the period. It also showed the band working as a tight unit giving every member room to impress, led by the immediately commanding vocals of frontman Mike Reno and Paul Dean’s razor-sharp guitar riffs…

LOVERBOY – Unfinished Business +4

Multi-platinum Canadian melodic rockers LOVERBOY first new album of all-original studio recordings in seven years – and their last since – “Unfinished Business” could not be more appropriately titled since some of the songs on the album come from writing sessions when Mike Reno & Co. started as a band.
As extras, we have as well all the singles Loverboy has released since ‘Unfinished Business’, including 2020’s “Gimme Back My Life”.
“Unfinished Business” is filled with big hooks, catchy choruses and punchy instrumentation, and truly succeeds in doing exactly what it was meant to do… it gives the hardcore Loverboy / ’80s AOR fans some songs they have always wanted to hear while reminding everyone else why we loved these leather clad MTV darlings in the first place…

Loverboy perfected a multi-platinum formula with its first three albums, each of which cracked the Top 20 in the U.S. as well as the band’s native Canada. With their fourth release, 1985’s “Lovin’ Every Minute Of It“, they wanted a fresh sound according to times.
After working with Bruce Fairbairn for five years, the band hired British Tom Allom and brought his whole new crew from England. Additionally, Loverboy decided to work with outside songwriters.
Hitmaker Robert John “Mutt” Lange provided the awesome anthemic title track specially penned for them, ‘Dangerous’ is a Bryan Adams / Jim Vallance co-write arranged with a marvelous melody, while the terrific keyboard-filled AOR of ‘This Could Be The Night’ wasn’t completed until Journey ivory player Jonathan Cain came in…
